📢 WEBER leaves the Vivactis Group in line with the short-term strategy and reorganisation the Belgian holding company is implementing. At the end of June 2024, the VIVACTIS Group decided to sell its entire stake in WEBER, reversing the transaction carried out in 2023, as part of its reorganisation plan and its short- and long-term strategy. It is thus once again an independent entity, with a clear international vocation and a desire for growth based on its values. Many of our clients come to us planning to establish a presence in a single country, but then within a year or two expand further into the region as they leverage the revenue, knowledge, and experience that they gained through that first market expansion. We believe it is important at the outset to consider the longer-term objectives for your business, and ensure that you are structuring this first stage in line with a potential broader market expansion plan. To that end we believe it is valuable to have single service providers – whether they be a law firm, accounting firm, or marketing agency – that can execute this broader market expansion plan with the experience and the capability to service you professionally in each market. While tidying up my desk, I came across a receipt for an equipment I purchased for the office almost 2.5 years ago. This brought me back to my first few days at StoneTurn. Not surprisingly, it was equal part trepidation and excitement. The first few days was confusing, but the support team and my onboarding buddy Mike Roos helped me made sense of things and the transition easier. The journey has been fulfilling, no doubt challenging, and most importantly fun (what’s the point if you are not enjoying it, right?). Some of the things I like about the profession, is the opportunity to learn new things and get involved in some interesting engagements, ideally both at the same time. To think that I almost quit on the very first day of joining the industry more than 2 decades ago (that’s a story for another day). What a mistake that would have been! The past ~2.5 years, many “makan” sessions with the team and business trips later, some of the most memorable ones were to the various firm meetings, where everyone met in-person to reconnect. Though those who were on a Nashville city bus tour with me in 2022, wouldn’t want to repeat that again. (Tip: if you are doing the tour in the summer, always make sure that the bus comes with air condition, especially when the outside temperature is 44°C!) All these wouldn’t be possible without the continuous support of the firm, colleagues and clients. I look forward to many more years of “fun”!
