We each make choices every day- in both our personal and professional lives that impact others and the world at large. In a time of change, we can dedicate ourselves to the causes we care most about. To me, that has always been people and the planet we call home. As the Global Head of Sustainability & Impact at iF Design, a respected member of the international design community since 1953 and host of the prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD which receives nearly 11,000 applications every year across over 80 categories from 70+ countries - my commitment is to helping optimize design for the betterment of our collective future. In this regard, design is how we think about the front end (i.e. material inputs, reparability & recyclability) and the back end (i.e. educating consumers, building support systems & services) as we create products, packaging, platforms, places and policies. At iF, "our goal is to fully integrate principles of environmental stewardship and social equity into the core evaluation criteria of the iF DESIGN AWARD as part of a multi-year journey to help determine the true social and environmental impact of our participants’ projects, while also creating design success stories that positively influence the market and society at large" (Uwe Cremering, CEO).
