We created the brand identity and digital presence for Emerald Stay® (A certified B Corp) that reflected not only their expanded ambitions, but also the calibre of experience offered at their properties.
 Starting with defining the brand positioning, “Experience the Luxury of Space”, helped us to reinforce and express Emerald Stay's offer of both adventurous experience and rejuvenating space through exclusive properties. The visual identity reflects quality and lifestyle through a more editorial approach. Using considered typography and spacious layouts to embody the promise of 'luxurious space'. The identity system we designed was applied to all brand and on-site collateral, as well a full refresh and rebuild of the Emerald Stay website. Details. ⁣ ⁣ One of the must haves for this new gym space was to include a ballet barre. 🩰 In the middle of the design we realized that flipping the electrical panel to the other side of the wall was not going to be an option. 🤔 So we had to figure out how to work around it while keeping the integrity of the design.⁣ ⁣ The hidden mirror door panel was born. Easily accessible and easily concealed. Although I have never been too interested in them, when I began my latest project I naturally gravitated towards them. This project is about focusing on the finer details of a motorbike, and I think there is a nice harmony between those two worlds. There has been A LOT of online commentary about the new direction Jaguar has taken with their brand. At the risk of adding to the noise, I want to share my thoughts. It's interesting to me that at a time where so many other luxury brands are returning to heritage, Jaguar has steered off course in the opposite direction. This could have been an opportunity to explore a look that borrowed inspiration from the "Retro Futurism" of the 1950s. I would have loved to see how the brand handled the juxtaposition of vintage advertising and typography trends set against modern EV car design. Their new makers mark would have lent itself well to that direction. But of course, not being privy to the research, this is just my opinion based on aesthetics rather than strategy. Without understanding the strategy behind this pivot, the opinions we're seeing are just personal aesthetic preferences and don't add a lot of value beyond all that free press Jaguar's team is currently basking in. There's been a lot of talk of Jaguar "going woke" or "missing the mark", but I wonder how much of that backlash is just a response from the old, white (male), status quo no longer being represented as the brand's target audience. A great example of why Bespoke design is so important! Now I know these are swimming goggles and not a logo, brochure or website, but it really shows why you shouldn't buy 'off the shelf'. I was fed up of getting puffy 'goggle' eyes every morning after a swim (that lasted all day!) so I decided to invest in some made to measure goggles - you scan your face via an app to measure all the different contours and dimensions of your face. Hey presto...no more goggle eyes! I have a very narrow face - just look at the difference between standard women's goggles and the made to measure ones. They're 2cm narrower each side! No wonder I was struggling - I had to have the old ones so tight to stop them leaking that they were leaving marks (and puffiness!). Maybe I should have just bought children's goggles, but then the strap would probably have been too small. This principle is what I live and breathe by in my work - every business is different with different values, objectives and target markets, not to mention unique personalities, so why on earth would you consider a templated design or even a DIY job? #bespokedesign #graphicdesign #webdesign
