🌍 During the first week of COP29 in Baku, discussions on e-mobility have highlighted its critical role in achieving global climate targets. Key topics focused on scaling up electric vehicle (EV) adoption and developing the necessary infrastructure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. E-mobility was prominently featured in debates about sustainable transport systems and energy transitions, with a strong alignment to the 1.5°C climate goal. 🚗 A key highlight was the emphasis on international cooperation to ensure equitable access to EV technologies and charging networks. Financial mechanisms, including carbon credits under Article 6, were explored as tools to support e-mobility in developing countries. Several nations showcased their progress in transitioning to e-mobility, with notable examples of electric buses and taxis being adopted in urban areas. While there has been significant progress, many more discussions and goals remain to be reached to ensure a global transition to sustainable, low-carbon transport. The journey is far from over, and continued collaboration and innovation will be essential. For more detailed updates, you can explore summaries and news releases from the official event and supporting organizations like the UNFCCC and TUMI. #COP29 #EMobility #SustainableTransport #ClimateAction #ClimateGoals

🏙️ Each city is different, requiring tailored solutions to address unique challenges. And while reducing carbon emissions is a global issue, solving this challenge requires initiatives closer to home. A takeaway from last year's Shortest Day Event hosted by Carolien Gehrels and joined by various industry leaders was the importance of having a local approach to decarbonization. Projects, such as London’s electric vehicle charging hub network and Antwerp’s use of residual industrial heat, are great examples of cities creating tailored solutions to decarbonize. 💡 Click here for more insights: https://okt.to/XeE4YU #Arcadis #ClimateChange #Resilience #RenewableEnergy #COP28

On this World Environment Day 2024, I want to emphasize the monumental impact of the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (#UNFCCC), held in Paris in December 2015. This event has marked a pivotal moment in global climate policy by establishing a universal framework for countries to combat climate change. With a vision and leadership in #sustainabletransportation and #emobility,we shall be committed to advancing technology and increasing the environmental benefits of sustainable mobility solutions. Through the adoption of renewable energy solutions, #electricvehicles can operate with zero emissions and are projected to reduce CO2 emissions by a quarter by 2030, ultimately achieving net-zero emissions.⚡🔌🌎 Given that transportation accounts for 14% of global emissions, transitioning to electric and renewable energy-based mobility solutions is crucial. This shift is essential for significantly reducing emissions and meeting our climate targets. As I always say, #sustainability begins at HOME with Me,You and all of US working together towards a common goal for #NetZeroFuture. Let's join forces to drive innovation and create a greener future. 🌱🌎🔌⚡ Lets go #electric ⚡🔌 EV Technology WM Motor 威马汽车 ZHIDOU EV WORLDWIDE London EV Company (LEVC) Oman Vision 2040 رؤية عُمان Star Charge Global FEST Auto United Nations United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) COP29 Azerbaijan #WorldEnvironmentDay #ClimateAction #Sustainability #ElectricVehicles #RenewableEnergy #GreenMobility #omanvision2040 #netzero2050 #sustainable #transportation #electrification #EVSE #ev #evcharginginfrastructure #emobility #technology #greenenergy #electriccars #evadoption #climatechange #sdg2050 #netzerofuture #omanvision2040 #gcc #menaregion #unitednations #evadoption #leadershipdevelopment

With transport contributing nearly 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions and 91% of its energy derived from fossil fuels, it is clear that this sector is at the heart of climate action challenges. The UN's first Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035) aims to revolutionize how we move people and goods, focusing on low-carbon, resilient, and inclusive systems to align with the Sustainable Development Goals. The recently concluded COP29 Azerbaijan, in Baku, underscored the critical role of sustainable transport in achieving global climate goals. Delegates highlighted the transport sector's significant contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, emphasizing that deep decarbonization is essential to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Progress on integrating sustainable transport solutions into updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) was a central focus. Key advancements included commitments to accelerate the electrification of transport systems and expand renewable energy infrastructures like EV charging networks. Discussions also emphasized equity, advocating for financing mechanisms to ensure that developing nations can access resources for clean transport transitions. This aligns with broader agreements under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which aim to fund low-emission projects worldwide. Despite these promising steps, challenges persist. Achieving a fully sustainable transport system requires addressing technological gaps, improving global collaboration, and ensuring that investments reach regions most vulnerable to climate impacts. With $2 trillion invested globally this year in energy transitions, the focus now shifts to optimizing these funds for maximum climate impact. The outcomes of COP29 serve as a reminder that sustainable transport is not just about reducing emissions but also about creating resilient, inclusive systems that support sustainable urban development and equitable global progress. "The road to a better future depends on cleaner and greener transportation systems. There is no time to waste. Let's get moving." #SustainableTransport #ClimateAction #Innovation #Decarbonization #ResilientFuture #UNSDGs #COP29

📣 Today marks the kick off of COP29, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Baku. One of the most important themes being discussed at the conference is the role of technology in climate action. ☀️ In 2024, clean energy and infrastructure investment will reach almost double that of fossil fuel investment. While there is still work to do globally, these statistics give us hope that things are heading in the right direction. 🪴 The Data and Tech teams at EDF are already playing their part in this, by supporting EDF in its mission to help Britain achieve net zero. To learn more about how we’re doing this, you could check out our post about the recent EDF Sustainability Community of Practise Hackathon here: https://ow.ly/Z4TT50U4n4y 📖 Or, you could read some of our blogs on Medium on the subject, for example this blog from Owen Eszeki about pioneering a net zero future: https://ow.ly/NwqJ50U4n4z #COP29 #CleanEnergy #SustainableTech #NetZero #TechForGood

🚊 CCG TRANSPORT DAY Side Event at COP29 🚢 🗓18 November 2024 🕐 1:00 – 5:45 pm (UTC+1) The decarbonisation of the transport sector is, due to it’s high share of CO2 emissions, unavoidable to achieve global net-zero emissions. The question of how this can be managed is in the foreground of the side event “CLIMATE COMPATIBLE GROWTH Transport Day” at #COP29 in Baku. As in the context of Low-and-Middle-Income-Countries (LMICs) this aim requires strong national and international partnerships to improve the local knowledge base, this side event stands under the title “Accelerating a just transition towards transport decarbonisation in LMICs”. It is organised by Climate Compatible Growth #CCG#CCG (more about them here: https://bit.ly/3O8uuyb) in cooperation with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and many other international actors. The session will be opened with a speech by Jochen Renger, Head of Energy and Transport at GIZ. If you’re not in Baku don’t miss the chance to follow the event online in the livestream: 🎥 https://bit.ly/4hRZmkc (CT)
