We live in a different time and without real gun regulation #security is a must. Weapon detection has to be the first layer of that security in our schools.

“We have a school resource officer.” “It’ll never happen here.” “We don’t have it in the budget.” And the worst.. “We have a great working relationship with our police.” These are 4 quotes from a school board member, Superintendants, and a District’s “safety specialist.” These were in response to emails from ASC trying to open up a line of communication when we started up last year. Of course, they were nice ways of saying “no” and “not interested,” but I hope they weren’t serious. Physical security is meant to be a proactive way to help protect occupants, and there are no more important “occupants” than children! Having worked in Law Enforcment for almost 20 years, I have to say that the last reponse is the worst. The use of Law Enforcment Officers (LEOs) is a key proponent in many physical security applications, but it’s a “reactive approach” to depend solely on their response and one that WILL cost lives in any situation. Our last post was about “what if” scenario thinking. Here’s a “what if…” moment that acually played out! What do you see? Police? An SRO? Anything or anyone to stop the shooter? Physical security measures and implementations in conjunction with products like ZeroEyes are designed to identify and stop a threat BEFORE they get in to your school or building. At ASC, our goal is to help make your facility safe and secure. We don’t mind if you don’t choose us and go with a competitor. But don’t give the aforementioned excuses…
