Setel To Charge 1% Convenience Fee For Credit Card Top-Ups Next Month Fuel payment app Setel has recently issued a notice to users, announcing that it will soon charge 1% convenience fee for every credit card top-up. This change is set to come into effect next month on 5 December 2024. Setel notes that these additional charges will not apply to automatic top-up transactions into their digital wallets. Other methods of adding value, such as using debit cards, digital wallets and online banking, will remain free for now. The notice adds that the new 1% fee for credit card top-ups is non refundable. Setel says it will reflect this change to its Product Disclosure Sheet as well as its Terms & Conditions accordingly nearing implementation. The QR Code Payment process by Mastercard unfolds in 11 steps: 1. The merchant provides the QR code, Merchant ID, and transaction amount to the consumer. 2. The consumer, using the Payments App, scans the QR code or enters the Merchant ID and confirms the payment. 3. Data is transmitted to the Acquirer (Nuvei) or Wallet (PayPal or Alipay), referred to as the Originating Institution, to initiate the MPQR Payment. 4-5. The Acquirer or Wallet secures the funds and makes a Payment API request to Mastercard. 6-7. Mastercard forwards the transaction request to the Receiving institution, Issuers (Wells Fargo or Citi), who either approve or decline it. 8. If approved, the merchant's account is credited, and a payment notification is sent to them. 9-11. Payment Transaction Response is sent back from the Issuer through Mastercard to the Acquirer and ultimately the consumer, along with a notification of the payment outcome. #payments #fintech #mastercard #qrpayments #instantpayments
