History is replete with landmark dates. Everyone remembers where they were the day WWII ended, the day India got independence, the day Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, the day Apple II was launched, the day Berlin Wall fell, 9/11, 26/11, you know the drill. I feel we’ve witnessed one such day, a day we’d be reminded of repeatedly in the future. A day that saw a series of firsts: 1. India’s first launch from a privately developed launchpad 2. India’s first semi-cryogenic engine to be completely designed and manufactured indigenously 3. World’s first rocket with a fully 3D printed engine What’s even more endearing is that this feat was achieved in the 5th attempt, which shows the resilience and the tenacity of the AgniKul Cosmos team to power through those challenges. Also, the congratulatory message from ISRO is really the icing on the cake, a stalwart of the sector encouraging a baby step and how! One really needs to commend ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization in the way they’re building the private space market in India through mentorship, guidance, collaboration and unfettered support. Contrast this with the challenges NASA had with promoting private space program after theirs was shutdown due to budgetary challenges in 2010. One has to be amazed by the fact that NASA acted with a ‘fixed mindset’ whereas ISRO is operating with a growth mindset when it comes to the same topic. Who would’ve thought! Finally, credit where it’s due: the entire team at Agnikul, others in the private space market in India (Pixxel, Bellatrix Aerospace, Skyroot Aerospace, Dhruva Space and others) and ISRO. May the tribe grow! Last, but not the least, kudos to the visionary investors who saw opportunities in this space (pun intended). It’s not easy betting on such long term plays: Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Anand Mahindra, Mayfield Fund, pi Ventures, Speciale Invest, BEENEXT, Artha Venture Fund, LetsVenture, CIIE, Globevestor, Celesta Capital, Rainmatter, Java Capital, Rocketship.vc and many others! #SpaceTech #FinalFrontier #PrivateSpaceProgram #collaboration

During the Cold War, the space race was a competition between only two global superpowers. In the 21st century, the race is global - with India competing against Europe, America and others to build the most advanced and reliable space technology. The Indian governments spends on government bodies like ISRO have dropped & redirected significantly in the last several years towards one goal - ensuring that Indian NGEs (non-governmental entitites or private players) are well set up for success in a global market with countries who have a headstart. One needs to look no further than the various facilities IN-SPACe provides at incredibly subsidized rates to the Indian market at it's sites. To this end it's interesting to see how private players like Kepler Aero, Dfy Graviti , Kawa Space and Azista BST Aerospace have come together to channel their organizations towards solving some of the world's toughest problems - which frankly can only be done reliably from space. I'm keen to see how this unfolds and will be watching the Bharat Space Collective quite closely. https://lnkd.in/g-QGRrkS
