|Project Overview| The Unga Wetu product and packaging conceptualization project was an inspiring journey from ideation to the creation of a unique, community-centered brand identity. Our goal was to design packaging that reflected the essence of “Unga Wetu” (Our Flour), resonating with local values while offering a fresh, modern appeal for today’s consumer. The process involved market research, focus groups, and an exploration of visual storytelling to capture the product’s authenticity. The final design integrates vibrant colors and familiar elements from Kenyan culture, with clean, functional packaging that communicates both trustworthiness and quality. Every detail, from the logo to typography, was thoughtfully crafted to make Unga Wetu not only a staple in the home but also a proud symbol of community unity. Through this project, we’ve created a brand identity that stands out on the shelf, connects with its audience, and celebrates the everyday nourishment that sustains families. The resulting package is visually appealing and effectively aligns with the brand’s core values of quality, tradition, and inclusivity.

New Work! Brand Refresh for Plural Refreshing and rethinking a brand identity is crucial for staying relevant. Whether the change is big or small, what matters is the commitment to evolving and moving forward. By embracing change, Plural strengthens its connection and deepens its brand love with its audience, ensuring it continues to resonate and engage meaningfully. The brief was to bring change without changing everything. We kept the logo intact to help introduce small, incremental changes that can lead to a more evolved brand over time. New colour palettes were added to complement the existing purple, and green was introduced to align Plural with the Pinelabs family. With updated typography, a refreshed illustration style, and an overall new template, we've achieved a fresh look for the brand. Every step counts, and we believe this will bring more flexibility to their marketing efforts and design system in the future.

The future of branding? Minimalism, but with a bold twist. 🎨 We’re not just talking about stripping things back to basics; we’re talking about intentional simplicity. Brands are embracing clean, minimalist designs, but adding bold elements—whether it’s a vibrant accent color, oversized typography, or a single, impactful graphic that grabs attention. This trend isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about clarity in communication. When you strip away the noise, the message hits harder. People are overwhelmed with content, so make sure your brand speaks clearly and confidently. If you’re stuck in the “more is more” mindset, it’s time to rethink. The brands leading the way are proving that less can do more—way more.”* 💡 Fact: According to a study by Adobe, 59% of people prefer beautifully designed content over something plain if they only have 15 minutes to consume it. But with minimalism, that beauty comes with focus and clarity, making it even more impactful.

How do you modernize a brand without losing its legacy? That was the challenge for our client Cumberland Steel. When we embarked on their brand evolution, our goal wasn’t to steer them in a new direction, but to refine and modernize their visual identity. With a rich history in their industry, it was crucial to maintain their recognizable identity while enhancing it for modern platforms. The key to modernizing? Small, thoughtful changes. I've been consulting with a business lately as they set up their new brand, and I had the pleasure of working with their graphic design team on a package redesign for their product. We had a lot of options in the end and couldn't really decide what to go with. In the end, me and the graphic design team ended up championing for the underdog -- a design that looked too complicated to my client who wanted to go for a minimalist, plain box design instead. What got through to my client in the end was a very simple question that I think more brand owners need to ask themselves on every opportunity when they deal with public-facing branded materials: what story does this tell? See, the imagery on the "underdog" told a story. It had an illustration in the background that hinted at key attributes of the product, where the product came from, and some more. We're talking about a brand owned by a family business with a rich history, and a product that means a lot to this family and their whole community. It felt like a total waste to pack it up in a minimalist blue and white box with no character. I think, sometimes, you need to let minimalism and the "modern touch" go so your brand can stand out as authentically as possible. If clean aesthetics and minimalism come at the cost of authenticity, remember that customers value authentic brands much, much more than aesthetics!

🚀 Proud to Unveil the PriorCut Technologies, Inc. Brand Guidelines! 🚀 I'm thrilled to share a recent project that has been both a challenge and a joy: creating comprehensive brand guidelines for PriorCut Technologies, Inc. This isn't just a collection of logos and colours—it's a cohesive identity that tells the story of innovation, efficiency, and connection in the barbershop industry. From the distinctive logo that seamlessly blends the art of barbering with cutting-edge technology to the sophisticated colour palette and thoughtful typography choices, every element was crafted with intention. The brand patterns we developed symbolize the seamless integration of technology in traditional barbering, reinforcing the narrative of simplifying complexity. Brand guidelines are one of my favourite things to design. This document not only shows my clients how to use their new brand but it also explains 'why'. For Outpost, we created a full package, from logo and colours to typography, patterns, and even quirky little illustrations—all working together to bring 'The Explorer' archetype to life. This right here is why I think it's important to get a full brand instead of just a logo. A brand is how you tell your story, stand out, and build trust. With my brand packages, you don’t just get a pretty mark; you get a toolkit to use your brand confidently and consistently, from a billboard to a business card. It means every piece, whether it’s a social post or signage, feels like you. If you’re ready to chart a course with your own brand identity, let’s connect. Because a brand that speaks for you is a brand worth every cent.

Why consistant branding IS Important? Did you know that 70% of businesses overlook the significance of consistent branding? 📊 Consistent branding is crucial for creating a strong and memorable brand identity. It ensures all elements, such as logo usage, color palette, typography, and visual style, align seamlessly across all touchpoints. A prime example of this is Coca-Cola. They have mastered the art of consistent branding, making their brand instantly recognizable worldwide. From their iconic logo to their unmistakable red and white color palette, Coca-Cola demonstrates how maintaining consistency can elevate a brand's presence and trustworthiness. In 2024, make sure your brand stands out by embracing consistency in every aspect of your branding strategy. Here's how you can achieve it: ✅ Maintain a consistent logo usage. ✅ Stick to a defined color palette. ✅ Use cohesive typography. ✅ Ensure a uniform visual style across all platforms. Follow Coca-Cola’s lead and make your brand as recognizable and trusted as theirs. 🚀 P.S Enjoy it With The Coca-Cola Company
