Empowering Women and Youth Recently, I had the honor of speaking at an event dedicated to discussing igniting women businesses, to enhance empowerment of women and youth in our country. It was an incredible platform for me to share my passion for driving change and give light especially for those who often face barriers to accessing the resources and support they need to thrive. During the event, I highlighted initiatives designed to uplift women and youth, from government programs like the Women Enterprise Fund, Uwezo fund, Hustler fund, Credit Guarantee Scheme and Youth Enterprise Development Fund. I also underscored the importance of mentorship and networking, which can open doors to further success. The response from this speech has been overwhelming. In days that followed, I have received numerous calls and messages from women asking how they could be linked to these opportunities. Many shared their dreams of sustaining and growing their businesses or joining the digital economy but were unsure of how to tap in. This had been clear that while many opportunities exist, there’s still a gap in accessibility and awareness. This feedback is inspiring. It shows that women and youth are eager to embrace the opportunities available however, there is need for more support in navigating them. This has motivated me to focus not just on spreading awareness but on building practical solutions to connect more women to these resources—whether through workshops, online platforms, or partnerships with local organizations. These businesses often incorporate cultural values, traditions, and practices to address social issues and drive positive change within their communities. 💎Cultural Empowerment & Community Engagement 💎 Although there may not be specific statistics available on First Nations women who were domestic violence (DV) victims overcoming their trauma and starting businesses in Australia. 🌍 Did you know? -58% of Africa’s self-employed population are women, but their businesses account for only 13% of the continent's income. -Women-led SMEs are 34% less likely to receive funding than those led by men, despite 90% of their earnings being reinvested into their families and communities. -According to the African Development Bank, closing the gender gap in labor markets could increase Africa's GDP by $316 billion by 2025. These numbers tell a story of tenacity, yet they also highlight the deep structural inequalities that must be addressed. Women are constantly in between the potential to build thriving businesses and the barriers that limit their growth. At Shecluded, we are actively bridging these gaps by providing access to finance, financial education, and business support tailored to women entrepreneurs.
