In the spirit of spreading kindness and gratitude, I am thankful to be nearing a year in at Mayo Clinic. Being in Strategy leadership at Mayo is my dream role for a few reasons: 1) 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼'𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁. My own healthcare experiences (including years of dismissive misdiagnosis as my kidney atrophied; this care was not at Mayo) have engendered a deeply-personal passion for patient-centered care. Back in January as I was in the last stage of the recruitment process, my husband and I watched PBS's The Mayo Clinic documentary. As the film discussed Mayo's commitment to our primary value, my husband said "Mayo is a perfect fit for you." It was a compliment I will cherish forever. 2) 𝗠𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀. I have the honor of working with strategists, systems engineers, clinicians, leaders and partners who are extraordinarily bright and kind. They help me develop and make work more enjoyable. I strive to do the same for them. 3) 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗿, 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. The work is difficult, impactful and different each day. I am energized by the intellectual challenge of solving multifaceted problems and navigating ambiguous opportunities. My colleagues and I are transforming our operations for a more agile and digitally-enabled future, crafting guidelines for responsible data usage in GenAI innovations, supporting our ever-evolving workforce, and transforming clinical services to expand our capacity to cure the most serious and complex medical challenges. We truly get to solve the unsolvable. Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!
Wishing a joyous Thanksgiving to our valued patients, visitors and dedicated staff! Consider the transformative power of spreading kindness and gratitude, which can not only shape your perspective and attitude but also positively influence your overall well-being.

#Story_Day39/50 #Must_Read "The Quiet Strength of Kindness, Empathy, and Compassion" In a bustling city, Priya worked as a young doctor in a crowded hospital. Her days were long, her patients were many, and the pressure often made it hard to stay positive. She noticed that many people around her focused on efficiency and precision, often forgetting the warmth that patients needed. One day, she met an elderly patient, Mr. Mehta, who was struggling with recovery. He seemed withdrawn and quiet, rarely speaking to anyone. Priya took a moment to sit beside him, gently asking about his family and interests. He shared stories of his late wife, his love for gardening, and the loneliness he felt. Priya listened with empathy, encouraging him to talk. She made it a point to check in on him daily, even if just for a few moments. Over time, Mr. Mehta's health began to improve. His doctors were surprised by his sudden progress, but Priya understood the reason. Kindness, empathy, and compassion had given him hope and strength to heal. Priya’s interactions didn’t go unnoticed; her colleagues began to see the impact she made through her small acts of compassion, and they, too, started treating their patients with more empathy. The hospital environment transformed, bringing warmth and humanity to a place often associated with cold efficiency. Conclusion: Never underestimate the power of kindness, empathy, and compassion in your interactions with others. Priya’s story illustrates that these qualities can spark profound changes, healing not just bodies but spirits. Small acts of empathy can inspire others and bring a sense of connection, making our world a better place one interaction at a time.

https://lnkd.in/gyrju34A I'm sharing this because I have worked for so long as a professional and never understood my super power! Authenticity as a superpower is the ability to remain true to oneself, unapologetically embracing one's values, beliefs, and identity amidst various challenges or pressures. It grants the strength to inspire and connect with others genuinely, fostering trust, empathy, and meaningful relationships. This superpower empowers individuals to navigate through life with integrity, resilience, and a profound sense of purpose. Becoming a nurse granted me a profound sense of purpose in my life. Allowing myself to pivot my nursing practice towards authentic patient-centered care has shifted my focus from worrying about perceptions of those I work for and it has been empowering. The rewards have been immeasurable: hugs from every patient, heartfelt gratitude, and the deep connections formed. Through authenticity, I've empowered patients to truly advocate for their health, fostering meaningful outcomes and profound relationships. #thereasonibecameanurse

Här kommer vårt första avsnitt efter det förlängda sommaruppehållet! Here is our first episode after the extended summer break! Please listen and give us your feedback! Aquí está nuestro primer episodio después de las largas vacaciones de verano. Escúchalo y danos tu opinión. --- When someone close to us falls ill, everyone is affected. The less we know, the more anxious we become. How we deal with the signals that something is wrong depends on the strategies we have learned from our family systems. How do we process difficult situations as wisely as we can? In families, at work and in other contexts. The saying “to be sick you must be well” is ultimately about navigating your way through stressed organizations that are not handling their tasks well. To change that, leaders need to shift the focus from individuals to systems.
