Elon Musk's x.AI Unveils Colossus: Powerful AI Supercomputer of the World Elon Musk's x.AI in a remarkable deed has passed Colossus, which is a super computer having the staggering 100,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs. With such computing power comes the pressure of being on perhaps the most advanced AI training system and artificial intelligence has never been the same. He completed the project in a record time of 122 days. This project base in Memphis, Tennessee. But Musk’s ambitions do not end there. He intends to increase Colossus power up to 200,000 GPUs incorporating within months 50,000 H200 chips which are close to twice as efficient as H100s, except for H100s which H200s have. Colossus is designed specifically to train Grok-3, a competing cum advanced large language model which will rival the likes of the Open AI model GPT-4. The initial part of the project was probably going to cost 3-4 billion dollars because of the expensive GPUs. Use of the super computer would involve massive resource with a requirement of using approximately 150 MW of power daily and potentially 1 million gallons of water cooling.
