During the Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Innovation event held in Milan on October 9-10-11, Valeria Bullo represented the kdc/one Home Care division in a panel discussion led by UN Global Compact Network Italia. The discussion focused on the Supplier Code of Conduct as a supplier engagement tool and the presentation of the results of the GCNI Sustainable Procurement 2024 roundtable activities, in which we participated. This session was a good opportunity to engage more people in the work that UNGC Italy Network is doing together with Italian companies, but not only, that are committed to positively impacting their value chain through responsible sourcing practices. https://ow.ly/ei3f50TNoGH

Thank you to Nina Starklauf and Violaine Balland for organising The Sustainable Procurement Pledge event last night in Singapore focusing on Supply Chain Due Diligence. Great to see this important topic get the focus it deserves in Asia as the EU regulations will have ripple effects, impacting all companies. In my experience, suppliers in Asia are more ESG-ready than most give credit for and ultimately it’s a journey for everyone. Knowledge shares like last night will only help! #sustainableprocurement #supplychainduediligence

Last week's ProcureCon Asia & Australia in Singapore was a great event, echoing similar themes from the Sydney event back in May. My key takeways: ⚖ ESG should be seen as an integrated methodology for driving business strategy. The 'E', and in particular, greenhouse gas emissions are still the core focus for most procurement professionals. Jonathan Cheung, (张英杰) FCIPS (Chartered)/CITP (Chartered IT Professional) of CIPS provocatively pointed out, most people stick to the ‘E’ because it’s what they know, the 'S' and 'G' can be trickier and therefore get less of the spotlight. 💡 My personal highlight was Matthew Friedman’s impassioned keynote on the importance of businesses tackling human rights abuses, with 60% of modern day slaves believed to exist within corporate supply chains. This total projection currently stands at 30,000,000 people, more than the population of Australia, with the latest projects for global slavery up to 50,000,000 people. We can all work to address this, procuring responsibly and deploying the appropriate due diligence. 🔁 For all the talk of AI, and the future of procurement technologies, it is clear collaboration is necessary to achieve real change and the expertise available within the procurement community is still vital. Relationships are as important as ever. 🤝 As ever, great to meet new people who are actively looking for robust, comprehensive solutions to help mitigate risk and drive improvement within their supply chains. The European due diligence legislation is definitely increasing awareness and raising the importance of this topic here in Asia. #supplychainsustainability #sustainableprocurement #supplychainduediligence #tprm
