The renowned Technical University of Munich (TUM) will become a new tenant of LabCampus GmbH, the innovation campus at Munich Airport. The university of excellence is setting up a "Convergence Center" at the site. The new TUM Convergence Center wlll creat a unique ecosystem in which students, scientific talent, founding teams, business partners and citizens can work together in an integrative and innovative way on groundbreaking projects. The key areas of aviation, mobility, robotics and security are among the research focuses of the TUM Convergence Center. Furthermore, the TUM Sustainable and Future Aviation Center will be set up to work together with Lufthansa and Munich Airport on sustainable and efficient aviation solutions. A letter of intent between the three partners was signed today in the presence of (l-r) Albert Füracker (Minister of State for Finance), Dr. Florian Herrmann (Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery), Joerg Eberhart (Lufthansa Group), Markus Blume (Minister of State for Science and the Arts) and Prof. Dr. Thomas F. 🌟 Introducing Vortifer© by KMTC Technologies Holding! 🌟 We are thrilled to formally unveil our innovative Vortifer© platform. Over the past few years, we have transformed a visionary idea into a robust concept, securing patents, conducting successful tethered flights, and establishing a solid business support and management structure. Our dedicated R&D team, in collaboration with various institutions, universities, and businesses, has worked tirelessly to achieve our current status, supported by sufficient funding. On September 20th, 2024, our joint research and development team gathered at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) for an impactful face-to-face meeting. The day featured insightful presentations from our esteemed development partners, Tplus Engineering, THI and Technologietransferzentrum Unbemannte Flugsysteme Manching providing a comprehensive overview of the current state. Additionally, Dr. Jochen Wild presented a detailed review of the simulation study conducted by DLR on behalf of KMTC in 2020. We achieved consensus on our past accomplishments, evaluated our current progress, and outlined the next steps toward developing a test prototype capable of flight (if we choose!). Industry needs to cooperate with academia and other stakeholders at pre-competitive level before product development. One important point was also that you should not split industrial competitiveness and societal challenges- they must be kept together.
