Welcome to the third post of the Team member memories series!🎞️ This week, we have Ron and Coen telling about their favourite memory, the 2015 Richmond regionals finals: “In the 2015 competition, we were proud to compete alongside 540 TALON and FIRST® Team 1086 Blue Cheese Robotics as part of an amazing alliance. Heading into the finals, we knew we’d be facing some tough competition with teams 2363 Triple Robotics, 384 SPARKY, and 1610 Blackwater Robotics on the opposing alliance. The energy was high, and we were ready to give it our all🔥 In the first match, everything seemed to click. Our alliance worked seamlessly together, and we secured a solid win. But just as things were looking promising, the second match threw us a curveball. One of our alliance members had an issue—after driving over the field obstacle their battery got disconnected because they forgot to zip tie the connector. Suddenly, we found ourselves fighting a 2v3. After the match, we couldn’t help but shout that they had to tie wrap their battery. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t keep up and lost that match. The third match was no less intense, but the other alliance had the upper hand this time, securing the win. Even though the finals didn’t end in our favour, the journey was incredible. The ups, the downs, the teamwork—it’s what makes this experience so memorable. Every match taught us something, and we’re already looking forward to the next challenge.
