I have a comprehensive, murderously long checklist that we referred to, but I don't like to kill people. Here is the quick version instead, if you are curious about what it takes to put together an exhibition: https://lnkd.in/euXnae5K

Agora Gallery is proud to present Look at Me, a group exhibition of paintings that challenge traditional notions of portraiture. The show gathers perspectives from contemporary voices, inviting us to explore the diverse and innovative ways in which artists capture the essence of the human spirit. The techniques and mediums are varied. Realistic close-ups of women’s faces, engulf us into the subject’s inner world, forming an intimate connection with the observer. Some scenes exude a more domestic and endearing feel, depicting the artists’ friends or family members, albeit placed against abstract backgrounds. Beyond literal likeness, other painters approach the figure conceptually, putting the form to the service of emotional expression or social causes. In these instances, the human figure becomes a vessel for a deeper exploration of the human experience, transcending the confines of mere representation and delving into the realms of imagination and intellect. Conversely, the form takes center stage in other work, through a careful deconstruction of the subject’s anatomy. In an era where the definition of identity is constantly evolving, this exhibition seeks to reflect the complexity, diversity, and fluidity of human expression.

#WikiWeex When designing an exhibition, choosing colors is really important. Each color is carefully selected to make visitors' experience special and interesting. This process contributes to shaping the exhibition's atmosphere and eliciting specific emotions from visitors during their visit. Curators carefully choose colors that align with the exhibition's theme and message. Exhibitions use colors to make visitors feel more engaged, and colors can significantly impact how visitors experience the entire exhibition. Have you visited an exhibition that engaged you because of its color choice? How to get ready when visiting an exhibition: 1,Pre-Register – There is nothing worse than arriving at an exhibition and having to stand in a queue for ages before even entering. 2,Plan Ahead – Research the companies attending and look at what they offer. The more time and effort you put into the show, the more you will get out of it. 3,Set Objectives – Know what you want to achieve by attending an exhibition. 4,Request A Floor Plan – Most exhibitions provide a floor plan in advance so you can organise your route of the show. 5,Book An Appointment – At most exhibitions you’re able to book appointments with businesses and organisations who are particularly interested in talking to. Pre-book an appointment to make sure you get all your questions answered. 6,Make Notes – When you visit an exhibition, it is extremely difficult to remember every stand, seminar, talk and workshop you visit. Making notes will save time when following up with companies and individuals you have met. 7,Take Business Cards – Take plenty of business cards however, hand them out cautiously. You don’t want to be receiving follow up calls and emails off hundreds of people. 8,Take A Break – Visiting an exhibition is a tiring process, so sit down and have a rest. Review what you have achieved so far and what there still is to do. 9,Collect Samples – Pick up plenty of samples but, don’t weigh yourself down with unnecessary leaflets and samples. You can always request samples to be sent to you by post. 10,Freebies – At all exhibitions there will be fantastic freebies on offer and chances to win amazing prizes. Don’t be afraid to visit each stall, you never know what they may be giving away.

Thrilled to be part of this upcoming exhibition with these artists at RK Contemporary, South Africa THE DISTANCE BETWEEN There are small places in this world where artists have settled, finding where the spaces between living and creating transform into, in this case, visual artworks. Places where creatives (artists, musicians, poets, chefs and other artisans) are fortunate to be enveloped by calm and appealing environs that are conducive to creativity. With some 120 kilometres between them, covering varied landscapes from the coast moving inland, Riebeek Kasteel and Kommetjie are two such places connected by a metaphoric creative heartbeat. In describing the physicality of these two lovely places, we cannot ignore the spiritual power of the natural world, described by some as a thin place, which is where the veil between the physical and spiritual world becomes permeable and where our perspectives of the world could develop differently. Because of these beautiful places, and an idea of this aesthetic being ‘perfect’, it has to raise awareness of the opposite also being present – a place where there is so much struggle, where life is lived on the edges. However, the sense of being in a thin place can attest to the healing power of the natural world, where one could move into an in-between place, with possibility. This exhibition is a result of a concentration of people who make art, distilling an essence of where they live, continually inspired to develop their work and are also lucky enough to form their own closely knit community within Kommetjie.

This made me think.... ☎️ I had a good call with a client today to look at and find options for their stand. 👀 I had forgotten how looking in at someone’s business is so much clearer than looking out from your own! 🔍 That’s why it's great to have an outside perspective, you see everything from a simpler, more obvious viewpoint. 🤯 ...And with a simpler, more obvious message, you will make a more "stop me in my tracks" stand design. 🚀 Why not ask the Boxy team to assess your next exhibition goals for a better return? # ExhibitionStandIdeas. #SeeingClearly #IncreasedReturn #ExhibitionDesign
