This article by Nazish Shekha highlights the urgent need for businesses in Pakistan to adopt mandatory climate-related financial disclosures like IFRS S2 to align with global sustainability goals. It underscores how proactive risk management and emissions transparency are crucial for building resilience with escalating climate challenges. It made me recall my reflections after attending the "Awareness of IFRS S2" workshop in Lahore earlier this year, hosted by Fauzia Safdar Khan. Engaging with professionals from the packaging, textile, and food industries helped me gather some insights into their concerns. As sustainability reporting has been controversial due to green washing at some industries, this transition poses significant challenges for industries already grappling with these frameworks. At the same time, it is an opportunity to develop more transparent system. Wondering how affective it will to reduce green washing :)
