📍 Redefining the Workplace, a 21st Century Approach. 📍 The modern workplace is evolving, and with this evolution comes the need to redefine a healthy, thriving workplace for employees. An environment that enhances complete state of physical, mental and social wellbeing. An environment that goes beyond ergonomics, aesthetics and functionality. 📍 Here are 10 elements that constitutes a healthy workplace according to the WELL Building Standard. 📍 Air: Clean air is fundamental to health. A workspace with optimized ventilation and regular air monitoring, reduces pollutants. For example, using low-VOC materials in office furniture and ensuring air purifiers are in place can drastically improve indoor air quality. 📍 Water: Access to clean, potable water is essential in the workplace. Providing filtered water stations throughout the office encourages hydration and eliminates the need for plastic bottles, aligning with both health and sustainability goals. 📍 Nourishment: A workplace that promotes healthy eating habits fuels productivity. Offering healthy snack options, like fruits and nuts, and designing cafeterias to highlight nutritious meals over processed foods can improve employee wellbeing. 📍 Light: Incorporating large windows, skylights or circadian lighting systems into office design ensures employees are exposed to ample natural light, reducing the risk of fatigue and enhancing focus. 📍 Movement: Encouraging movement by designing spaces that inspire walking, such as open staircases, standing desks and walking meetings, helps employees stay active throughout the day. 📍 Thermal comfort: A workplace where employees have some control over their thermal environment-through personal fans, adjustable thermostats, or zoned heating and cooling- creates a sense of comfort and improves productivity. 📍 Sound: Noise management is critical for focus. Implementing sound absorbing materials, providing quiet zones and using white noise machines can reduce the stress associated with loud or distracting environments. 📍 Materials: Safe, sustainable materials reduce exposure to harmful toxins. Offices that choose non-toxic paints, furniture made from natural materials, and sustainable building components protect employees from harmful chemicals and enhance the sustainability of the workplace. 📍 Mind: Offering quiet spaces for mindfulness, access to nature through biophilic designs, and on-site mental health support services creates a workplace where employees feel valued and supported. 📍 Community: Promoting social interaction through shared spaces, like lounge areas or communal kitchens, and organizing team building activities creates a thriving environment. 📍 As we redefine what it means to work in today’s world, creating healthy workspaces is not a luxury, it is a necessity. 📍 Lets make our workplaces healthier, one WELL concept at a time. #FacilitiesManagement #Healthyworkplaces #Employeewellbeing

Are your employees stuck in a white-collar factory? It might be time to take another look at your office design. Recent studies show an increasing dissatisfaction with traditional workplace environments. • According to Gensler, 61% of employees across nine countries say they need the office to feel most productive in their work, but they lack optimal spaces for a variety of work modes throughout the day. • According to JLL's Workforce Preferences Barometer, 65% of employees want a workspace that prioritizes their well-being, indicating a need for facilities such as natural light, ergonomic furniture, and quiet areas. So, how can you prevent building a white-collar factory? • Prioritize flexibility by providing employees with a variety of in-office and remote work options to fit their particular preferences and work styles. • Design for Collaboration through open lounges, project rooms, and outdoor locations that can all be used to promote spontaneous interactions and teamwork. • Invest in wellness by ensuring that your workplace promotes employees' physical and emotional health using ergonomic design, biophilic components, and wellness initiatives. • Use digital tools to improve communication, productivity, and cooperation, both in person and remotely. Transforming your workplace into a lively, engaging, and people-centric atmosphere can help your staff reach their full potential and promote innovation. Big thanks to Michael Przytula for shedding light on this crucial problem during his recent conversation on The Workplace Innovator podcast!
