As we navigate through 2024, it's crucial to address the accelerating urban growth in Pakistan. Currently, 37% of our population lives in urban areas, a number projected to rise sharply to 59% by 2050. This rapid urbanization brings with it a host of challenges: Urban Sprawl & Pollution Pakistan's cities, including Karachi and Lahore, are expanding without adequate planning, leading to significant urban sprawl, severe air pollution, and some of the worst living conditions globally. Karachi, marked by its extensive slums, ranks as one of the least livable cities, while Lahore battles some of the worst air quality in the world. Inadequate Services Our cities face critical shortages in safe water, sanitation, housing, and mobility. This not only affects the livability of our urban spaces but also their ability to drive inclusive growth. Towards a Resilient Future To transform our urban landscapes into livable and climate-resilient spaces, we must integrate measures to strengthen climate resilience into city planning, investment, and management. Improving municipal services, planning, and finance is essential to setting our cities on a path of resilient, low-carbon, and sustainable growth. Join the conversation and help us envision a sustainable urban future for Pakistan. Watch our full video to learn more and see how you can contribute to making our cities more sustainable and livable. #UrbanPakistan #SustainableCities #ClimateResilience

Clarification: A notice has been issued by Bahria Town regarding the revalidation of allotment letters, which has caused concern in the Bahria Town Karachi market. Please note, however, that this notice applies only to members of Bahria Town Lahore, not Karachi. In Bahria Town Lahore, the policy states that allotment letters expire after three years. This policy does not apply to Bahria Town Rawalpindi or Karachi, as allotment letters in Bahria Town Karachi do not have an expiry date.

The approximate price of a land in Kigali depends on several factors, including: * Location: Land prices vary significantly depending on the location within Kigali. Central business districts and prime residential areas tend to be more expensive. * Size: Larger plots of land generally cost more than smaller ones. * Zoning: The zoning regulations for the land can affect its value. Land zoned for commercial or industrial use may be more expensive than land zoned for residential use. * Amenities: Proximity to amenities like schools, hospitals, shopping centers, and transportation can also impact the price. According to recent data, land prices in Kigali can range from approximately RWF 50,000 to RWF 1,000,000 per square meter. However, this is just a rough estimate, and actual prices may vary depending on the specific factors mentioned above. It's important to consult with real estate professionals or conduct thorough research to get a more accurate estimate of land prices in Kigali based on your specific needs and preferences.

The recent directive by the Minister of Works and Transport, Gen Katumba Edward Wamala, to evict roadside vendors operating along city roads has sparked an important debate about balancing urban development with the livelihoods of those dependent on street vending. As the Government of Uganda moves to restore order on Kampala’s bustling streets, we must ask: what happens to the vendor whose only hope for a livelihood is selling that apple on the street? What about the youth who must sell car wipers in traffic to afford supper? As we strive for progress, let’s remember that true development must be inclusive, ensuring that no one is left behind. What are your thoughts on how we can achieve this balance?
