À bientôt!

Every time I sit down to write an edition of The Job Journal I’ll go to kick things off with…

“Dear Reader”

…and quickly realise that

a) It’s wrong to assume anyone actually reads this

and

b) I’ve watched way too much Bridgerton. 

Whilst I might not have the wit, vocabulary or even the cleavage to be the next Lady Whistledown I do like to think people receive this email with the same level of excitement as a member of 19th century high society being handed a pamphlet whilst strolling along the Thames. 

That being said I have to apologise, Dear Reader, for not getting this out on a Tuesday as some of you may have come to expect. (sorry Mum).

You see, next week, I’m going on holiday. It’ll be the first time in over 5 years that me and my small but perfectly formed family are getting on a plane and f#cking off overseas. 

Obviously, this has coincided with work starting to get that little bit busier and I’ve found myself longing for and simultaneously dreading the impending break whilst working silly hours to get things over the line before I leave on a jet plane.

I’ve had enough therapy/ listened to enough podcasts/ seen enough people burnout to know that taking a break isn’t a nice to have. 

I put a whole heap of energy into running GTC and the only way I’ll continue being able to do that is to take some time away from it. 

I can’t stand hustle culture. I’m an advocate for work life balance. I know all the right things to say to people who aren’t taking time for themselves. So it’s time to practice what I preach. 

If that resonates, perhaps it's time for you to do the same.

You’ll be in Dean’s capable hands whilst I’m away (don’t sh!t the bed mate😉) and you can expect some weird highlight reel of my experiences trying to keep my kids entertained for a whole week in 36 degree heat upon my return.
