The 1 thing separating the SUCCESSFUL from the single-minded...

I am regularly asked for advice by hungry entrepreneurs and, though I would love to take the time to help each and every one individually, it just isn’t possible.

So why would I love to help them all?

The answer is simple.

Firstly, I was just like them once. Full of energy and determination, and in massive need of guidance to help me navigate through the crossroads where you don’t know which path to choose.

Second, and most importantly, they have had the courage to ASK.

All too often I meet entrepreneurs who mistake their own drive and determination for the feeling that they can do everything on their own. The truth is, they can’t. No one can.

The most successful entrepreneurs accept that they are still learning, and that is what makes the difference.

If they come up against a challenge they are unsure about – they ASK the right people the right questions.

They read books, case studies and go to business events. They listen to podcasts, read blogs and attend lectures. They reach out to their network for support.

This is what makes the difference.

An entrepreneurs business is risky enough without taking blind guesses about what you don’t know. It is vital to look for guidance when you need it.

Accepting you need help, as everyone does sometime, is the right way to be if you want to grow, improve and, ultimately, become successful.

You must constantly learn & improve, and who better to teach you than those who have been there and done it?

Many of you have been asking about Entrepreneurs events where I am speaking and unfortunately most events and conferences where I speak are private, which is a shame because even the most hardened business people would definitely benefit from hearing what not just me, but other successful business people have to share about our experiences, methods and expertise.

My most successful friends & colleagues actively mentor their own teams and I know most of them and/or their teams would be happy to come along and share their knowledge if they were to be invited to.

The questions I have are --

What area of business do you struggle with most?

What would you most like to learn from someone in-the-know?

Imagine you could speak to the most influential person in a chosen field of business, who would it be and what would you most like to know?

Post your answer in the comments below and, if the same topic crops up again and again, who knows… you might just get an invite to an event on that very topic in due course.

Remember, if you don’t ASK, you don’t get.

Can’t wait to hear your comments!

Asking can be tough, particularly finding what to ask! One of the frequent issues I find is not what to do, but what avoid doing... setting priorities and saying NO can be the difference from a lot of activity and successful activities. How to understand when to say NO?

I was advised by my local MP to contact Baroness Michelle Mone and I was wondering the best way to do this please. I am currently working with several Town Councils and partnerships to help to deliver growth to the small traders in the High Street and he thinks my approach is worthy of further discussion to see if this could support the work that the lady is doing in her research herself.

Theres a great company called Execurank. Its free to join if you are a business owner looking for a non exec advisor. You get access to CEO's experience in exchange for a fee or equity of your company. I found an amazing lady who is the VP of Marketing for HSBC in the US. Worth checking out! Hope this helps.
