$10.2 Trillion and still this mess 😭
Yes, you read it correctly. $10.2 Trillion, that is the increase in wealth of the world's billionaires since Covid hit.....
So why is my timeline still populated by people out of work and companies laying people off?
Doesn't seem fair to me! especially when these are people I know.
Why?
I've been doing recruitment for a while now. It's hard to know which metric people use to judge my success.
What I'm most proud of, are the success stories of the people we placed into companies and seeing where they are now. That's what motivates me most that'll be my legacy long after I retire.
And yet, these last 8 months, I've had so many people get back in touch saying they need help to find work. I've tried everything I can think of. Reduced fees, no fees, resume tips, interview coaching, linkedin blasts but it's not working.
New Initiative
As recruiters we make money from companies needing our candidates. Right now, that's an impediment to hiring. I need to get out of their way.
So, starting this week. I'm going to be posting a "Jobseeker of the Week". I don't want a fee for the intro, I don't have to rep them. I just want their profile to go viral on Linkedin and to get them some interviews and opportunities befitting of their talent. I want to challenege other recruitment leaders to do the same. One a week if they can. It's not giving away the cow here!
Christmas is around the corner, it could be a long hard winter for so many and we can help.
First "JobSeeker of the Week"

It's Sept 2014, Taylor Swift is Shaking it Off and I was in the middle of a huge recruitment drive with the wonderful Erlina Edwards. One of those hires was a recent Grad, Sarah, who someone took a chance on and trained up.
From there, due to her ferocious work ethic, natural empathy, high drive and structured approach she shone for 6 years. Through two takeovers, numerous management changes she exceeded daily metrics and quota expectations YOY by 140% in 2020, 122% in 2019, 116% in 2018,and 125% in 2017 while managing a senior territory for four years and carrying the top 5 highest quotas in the division.
From SDR to AE to Account Manager she was a leader in her field.
Now she's on the market. Based in Austin but open to remote roles. In her own words she wants "a company where I can bring my knowledge, enthusiasm for sales, and continue to grow in my career goals. My mantra is work smarter AND harder! Fully versed in the sales process my passion is growing account sets and building strong relationships."
Summary
Who do you know who's hiring? Who can you share this with? Which networks/groups and influencers am I missing?
Let's get Sarah hired and if you're in my network and you're out of work. Drop me a note and I'll run another Jobseeker of the week next week!
Billionaires might not care about whether you have a job but I do, and so do most people on here! we can make a difference, together ✌️
