11 Easy Tools You Need

I get this a lot - "David, I'm not a tech person - I don't know how you do all the techie magic that you do with emails, webinars, websites, landing pages, videos, and all that fancy stuff…” 

  • “Are you some kind of tech wizard?” 
  • “Do you pay an army of minions to set all that up for you?” 
  • “How can I be as good-looking, slender and hi-tech as you?" 
  • (OK that last one was a joke)

The answer is simple - and the answer is that I keep the tech super simple! 

Let’s talk about how you can set up your simple backend systems to scale both your marketing and delivery tasks as a high-fee consultant or expert.

A lot of people love to make things complicated.

Don’t do that :o) 

The basics of what you need are:

  1. Professionally designed website that includes easy editing capabilities (you already have this, yes?)
  2. Basic Search Engine Optimization – Upwork is a great resource for help with this
  3. Online scheduler – I use ScheduleOnce to book both prospecting calls and client consulting sessions
  4. Email marketing software used to capture emails and send newsletters – I recommend MailChimp or ActiveCampaign.
  5. Landing page and opt-in page generator that is powerful, optimized for conversion, and easy to use. Your best bet is Leadpages.  
  6. For payment processing, you can get a full-blown merchant account and shopping cart, but most people will do just fine using Stripe or PayPal.
  7. I also really recommend my keyboard macro program or text expander – I use Typinator for the Mac. This lets you create a short phrase and expand it automatically into commonly used large chunks of text. Every repetitive email I send, I send with one or two keystrokes because of this tool.
  8. SurveyMonkey to send surveys, gather data, and test new topics/programs
  9. Zoom for video conferencing and recording video interviews or podcasts
  10. Screenflow or Camtasia to shoot and edit easy screencast videos
  11. Your smartphone – Record videos on the go, share on social media, or use my favorite video email tool, BombBomb, to send personal video messages to clients and prospects.
