And 11 years later, I'm an overnight success...

And 11 years later, I'm an overnight success...

Back in September 2013, I had a dilemma and a problem.

The dilemma was, should I quit a low-paid part-time job, despite having a hefty mortgage that needed to be paid, so that I could follow my dreams?

And the problem was, in the past month, my son and I had twice been ambulanced into Great Ormond Street hospital, ostensibly for his new heart transplant.

But both times the donor hearts had been deemed 'not good enough' and so we collected ourselves together, breathed deeply, kept the faith, got on the tube and went home again.

A few weeks before, I had shared my plans to begin an online business called 'Business Coaching for Osteopaths' which would help osteopaths to grow their practices.

I rang a few key friends, tentatively shared my bonkers idea and got various responses.

Some called it impulsive, others said it was too risky, and many outright disagreed.

“Get a proper job—focus on the important stuff.”

“Is that really the right move, right NOW??"

But I’ve always trusted my instincts.

I jumped in with both feet and faced the challenges head-on, despite being scared of making a mistake and everyone laughing at me.

So now, stuck in the parents' room at GOSH as my son lay unconscious in Flamingo ICU, thankfully recovering from the 'third time lucky' heart transplant operation, I decided that if he could be this brave, I could get past being terrified of failure and just begin!

Right there, I made the bold decision to break free from the constraints of employment and become my own boss.

With inspiration flowing, I began typing furiously on my big old laptop, trying to set up the tech for the Osteobiz Club.

For £27 per month, you could get a bite-sized piece of business training and a half hour 1:1 call with me to answer all your questions.

Very pleased with myself I was!

But I had no clients, no money in the bank—in fact, I lived on baked potatoes in the hospital canteen bought on a credit card because that was all I had.

But something inside—call it a gut feeling—told me to take the leap and do this, even if it was scary...

It wasn’t easy; the journey was full of failures, losses, and countless days, weeks, and months of anxiety and fear.

And then I discovered how to master one crucial thing:

✅ How to create content that attracted my ideal audience...

✅ How to build trust with them quickly...

✅ And how to convert them into paying customers who achieved amazing results.

When you can control your marketing, you win.

The constant worry of “Will my business survive?” or “What if I lose to competitors?” fades away.

You.

Simply.

Win.

If it helped me, I’m confident it can help you too.

Hi Gilly Woodhouse, great piece. Please write more about the journey. Not sure how long after this I first met you but I have seen you grow develop and become a leader, whilst remaining humble and with a smile on your face. Fear holds people back, it has held me back for sure but at some point you back your self. If you don't back yourself, who will. You are an absolute breath of fresh air to everyone who comes into your sphere. And anyone wimping about whether they should get a coach and "risking" a few quid, the adage "what got you here won't get you there" needs stenciling. If you want a better life, better clinic and you're not where you want to be, there needs to be a catalyst. Your overnight success Gilly is built helping clients and seeing at first hand the clues of success. And you impart that to others. You are a powerful catalyst with a smile of course ... and bright red lipstick! :-)
