#13 – The State of (my) Fashion 2024: The Power of Motivation and Bringing Ideas to Life

... it’s been a year of big challenges 🏋️♀️
If you know me you would know that I like demanding hobbies and my brain constantly wanders on new ideas and it usually occupies my mind during whatever time is left after my work is done — and it sometimes does keep me awake at night until I find a way to get it done.
One of these hobbies was rekindling my interest for coding. After years of letting that skill set sit in the corner, I finally dove back in. I started with online learning for an uninterrupted 152-day strike, retooling my abilities one tutorial at a time. It was humbling. But this time, I pushed through the self-doubt and decided to actually build something.
Enter www.goodmarg.in, my little app that helps people in fashion and other retail industries calculate profit margins with ease and on the go. It’s simple, functional, cute, and, honestly, something I’m really proud of.

What made this so fulfilling wasn’t just the app itself, but the fact that I got it done while balancing everything else.
Running PAST TENSE in today’s economy has been no small feat. The fashion world in 2024 has been a storm of closures, shifting consumer priorities, and budget cuts across the board. But it’s also been an opportunity — a chance to focus on what truly matters: creating products that resonate and connecting with people who share our passion for thoughtful design. It has also been an eye-opener on individualism and other nasty aspects of the human condition when business gets the centre stage of relationships between brands and buyers.
Through it all, I’ve also had the privilege of partnering with some amazing brands, helping them bring next-generation products to life and finally working closely with a long-time friend and a company I have been invested in for a while now — Resourced . Seeing ideas turn into tangible, impactful products reminds me why I love this industry.
This year hasn’t been perfect—far from it. But it’s been proof that with the right motivation and a willingness to take risks, even the craziest goals are possible or at least the rewards are getting closer.
So, here’s to 2024, a year of challenge, creativity, and growth. And here’s to whatever we all dream up next. ✌️
