The $1K Project

The $1K Project

If you know of a family in crisis because of #COVID-19, 1kproject.org can help. The 1k Project uses personal networks to directly match a family impacted by the pandemic with a family committed to giving them $1k for 3 months.

We are living in unprecedented times. This pandemic has wreaked havoc on the health of our nation and collapsed the already fragile financial well-being of so many American families. While the stimulus package is helping some, with 26 Million people out of work in this country, there are so many more whom just aren't getting help fast enough.

Two days ago, a former colleague of mine at HBO, Bernadette Aulestia shared a post on her Facebook page highlighting The 1k Project. I was raised by a single mother who worked her ass off to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, but no matter how hard she worked, we were always one health crisis away from ruin. That fear never leaves you. It's why I became a $1K sponsor. In less than 24 hours, 100% of my donation was in the hands of a family in need. It was incredible. So incredible, that I've decided to join the team as a Curator.

The 1k Project has already helped over 90 families in just two weeks through the power and generosity of personal networks, can you help?

  • If you know of a family that needs help now, please nominate them and use me as a referre: sabrina@1kproject.org.
  • Are you an employer who has had to furlough or let go trusted employees and want a way to help? Let's talk.
  • If you are in a position to help by donating time or becoming a sponsor - THANK YOU. Sponsors can apply directly and cite me as their referrer.
  • Finally, 1k Project works because of the power of trusted networks. I'd be greatly appreciative if you could help by amplifying this message to yours.

Stay safe out there.

Love and Light,
