What a year it has been at Impact Policy as we moved into year 3 as a company.

We got to build on the portfolio of policy projects achieving significant impacts across our communities with clients such as Aboriginal Languages Trust with the release of the Multi Year Research Agenda and NSW Strategy for International Decade of Indigenous Languages. If you want to understand how we developed this alongside our client you can check out this short video here

We continued to strengthen our relationship with clients such as the Department of Communities and Justice. Providing CoDesign services for the development of qualitative methodology for the Evaluation of the Walama List as well as other significant CoDesign projects such as the Ways of Working framework for Taronga Zoo,  and most recently with the Aboriginal Housing Office where we have had the privilege to work alongside an amazing team on supporting the CoDesign of relationships based outcomes and access for Stolen Generation Survivors Organisations we continue to feel immense pride in the work we get to impact and the relationships we get to strengthen.

We finalised our pro-bono or at cost policy for community NFP and ACCOs. We operate a Robin Hood based model here at Impact. We realised early that the very same services we deliver for public sector clients was needed at a local level too, the only difference was the gross difference in budget capacity to support access. So we made a decision to charge our clients a premium for what we know is a premium service means that we can further support pro-bono or at cost policy and communications services at a local level for our clients and people.

Since the finalisation of our policy we have worked with orgs like First Nations Response and the The Sydney University Settlement providing both policy and facilitation services either pro bono or at cost. If your org is passionate about social impact and access we encourage you to consider a policy similar as well. Reply to this email if your looking to do something similar and we can send you a copy of our policy if your looking for somewhere to start.

We strengthened our relationship with the Planning Institute of Australia through speaking at their National Congress in Naarm alongside leaders in the Planning with Country and then later at their state conference on Dharawahl delivering a workshop on CoDesign for the sector. Im a judge for the PIA awards in 2025 for the planning with Country award and we look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with PIA both personally and through Impact Policy.

Impact Facilitation reached new heights as the team was reached out too come in CoDesign workshops and then facilitate outcomes often between the public sector and internal/external stakeholders and community. Its an area we are recognising we do really well and look forward to building more opportunities to do this relationship based work in 2025. If your looking for some passionate relationship based facilitators reach out to the team at Impact Policy – we got you covered.

CoDesign Training really kicked off with a number of workshops delivered across the state, including most recently for Bulumbul for the APS. These are exciting projects that the team love to deliver. One because we see the value and impact of each session for participants and two because no two sessions are the same. Whilst we have a framework for how we deliver training each session we curate is cocreated alongside our clients based on sector, participations and experience. And because of this we really believe engagement and participation is at its highest. If you or your team are interested in learning more about CoDesign – with a particular focus on Lived Experience and working alongside Aboriginal communities than reach out to the team and lets yarn about some impact we could have together.

We continue to work on some significant research and evaluation projects. For us, recent training this year at Loqwitja with Aileen Moreton-Robinson was a true highlight in decolonisg methods and our standpoint as Indigenous researchers, something that can at times not be straightforewward but something that we continyue to champion, were excited to continue to build on this in 2025 through the Impact Measurement work particularly that we are doing in the Monitoring Evalulation and Learning space.

Through a communications and storytelling lens we championed the critical need for this service as part of the policy puzzle at Impact policy. We really believe that stories, content and lived experience is a critical piece of the policy journey. We have started to build up a solid portfolio in the public sector and to understand this more check out out showreel/vision for the impact we seek to have.

Thank you to everyone in our community that has been a part of this journey, with that we hope to continue to build free content and resources to support you on your journey. We look forward to more podcasts, blogs, research and content that shares ideas, learnings research and value.

Thank you for walking with us, 2025 locked in - Lets Gooo

Yarn soon,

Sam
