Three Quick Tips for Attracting More Customers
Every salesperson wants more customers, but the problem is that there are so many ways to go about attracting customers that we often get bogged down in all the details of where to spend our time.
Here are three very easy tips to attracting more customers and most importantly requiring less of your time.
#1. Get introductions. Salespeople are always trying to get referrals from their customers. The problem with a referral is that it’s unclear what you are asking from your prospect. Do you want just a name and a number so you can just make a phone call? Or do you want your customer or contact to actually introduce you to that person or potential lead?
Any sane salesperson would want to have a face to face, phone or email introduction because the likelihood of closing that sale increases significantly when there’s an actual introduction made.
So start asking your customers, friends and networking associates for “introductions” to other customers and potential customers whom they think you can help.
#2. Speak on your expertise. There is no more of an effective way to get in front of a large group of potential customers than to give a speech on your expertise. Every salesperson is an expert in what he sells, so use that expertise to give away information in a speech that will attract a good group of potential customers.
This means that you can give speeches at chamber events, networking groups, associations or even host your own event to attract people and learn about what is relevant to them.
Remember, your goal is not to pitch your product during the speech, but instead to give very valuable information that the prospects or attendees will want and that will ultimately encourage them to buy your product or service.
#3. Find high level networking opportunities. When it comes to networking, you can network with other salespeople, with low level buyers or, you can network with high level prospects in order to obtain more business.
The most effective use of networking time is to network in high level situations where you are meeting with true decision makers. Identify some networking opportunities or networking groups that you can become a part of to rub shoulders with true decision makers.
This might consist of getting involved with a board of directors of an association, or actually running a networking group, but be sure that when you get involved with any networking group that you’re truly dealing with real decision makers and not just other salespeople.
Get ahead of your competition by employing these three quick and simple tips for attracting more customers. Don’t get strung out on the details.
