Tom Peters sent a tweet out on 1/01/14 that said, "Radical Personal Development. Start Date: TODAY. Tomorrow: TOO LATE. DO Something NOW!"

He truly gets it and that was the same advice I recently passed on to a conference of young CPAs and emerging leaders. Their learning is just beginning even in a profession that has continuous and lifelong learning as a core value.

It is not enough to rely on your organizations solely for your own development. You are the CEO of YOU, INC.You have to establish your own PLN or Personal Learning Network and take responsibility for your own development. That is why I love Tom Peter's idea of Radical Personal Development or RPD.

Today it is easier than ever to create your own personal learning network that can start with books (you must get a kindle reader or app) and your network to share and learn from. Then enhance by following your favorite authors on twitter and in their blogs to get even more insights. Linked-In Influencers are another great source of learning. And feel free to write your own blog post and comment on others to form your POV.
