2017 ALSA AGM - Member Engagement
For the first time in it's 107 year history the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association (ALSA) will be holding an election for President next April. Two candidates are running for the position and it is important for the membership to be engaged and invested in the process.

Mike Fretwell, ALS, CLS, MBA
Candidate, Mike Fretwell, ALS, CLS, MBA is the current Vice-President and far from representing the status-quo, consistently challenges existing policies and pushes for reform from within. Mike believes in consensus building through collaboration, and that the collective intellect, if properly applied, provides for better decision making. Mike's vision is to drive for a future that strengthens and enhances the value of the Professional Land Surveyor in the community at large, and supports members to excel.

7yHi David, Thanks for the comment. I'm glad that Rob is running, this should pull the stopper out of the lamp and release the genie. Consider this is a call to all Alberta Land Surveyors, particularly the newest members. It is time to get engaged in the process, it is your future that we are talking about! 7yMike I don't know that much about how ALSA works but I definitely support the path you are on. Why spend the time and money to go to an AGM where you are just being told about decisions already made? Interesting meetings are ones where there is debate and where as a member you have a chance to make a difference.

7yWe need to foster debate and increase member engagement. We need voter turnout at the AGM. Dr. Rob has some good ideas, but we need to ensure that we voice our opinions. I will be providing an alternate vision based upon what I see and what the membership says. This vision may well include some of the motions under 3+1. Your Voice! Your Choice!
