2017: Platforms, Business-by-Voice, and Risk Intelligence

Here are my 3 predictions for 2017 ( as aired on SAP Radio, SAP Game Changer's 2017 Predictions)

#1: Re-emergence of Platforms

Platforms became bad word in 2015 and in 2017, Business Platforms will re-emerge as industries get disrupted by Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. Financial Services, Insurance, and Real-estate will drive this in 2017. Traditional banking will start aligning with FinTech companies to deliver Open Business Platforms. Insurance and Real-Estate technology innovation gets hot in 2017. This will drive more regulations. Drives more innovation. And, the pace of innovation will be hyper-accelerated by Cloud, AI, and Computer Vision and speech technologies.

#2: Business by Voice

Business by Voice will be a new norm in 2017. New startups will emerge to deliver Voice enabled, Cognitive business applications powered by Artificial Intelligence. Screen based computing started to fade away from 2017 as voice-enabled apps started to proliferate. This will drive M&A activity.  Oracle, SAP, and Salesforce would realize disrupting from inside takes long if not impossible and speed up their M&A activity in 2017 to snatch up more AI and Cognitive application companies to keep their dominance in business applications.

#3: Risk Intelligence

Risk Intelligence is going to be a hot topic in 2017. Traditional professional services oriented Risk intelligence doesn’t work anymore. New Risk Intelligence Platforms powered by Augmented Intelligence, combining the power of Human and Machine Intelligence will emerge. I expect businesses of all sizes and types, and governments globally, to focus on cyber physical security. 2017 will offer brighter future for those who can offer workable solutions to solve risk intelligence and security problems in risk intelligence and cyber physical security.
