2019 Celebrating what is Right with our World
The ultimate year of highs, lows and step ups. Where to start on a year that challenged and changed me to my core. On the home front we moved to a German educational system which has been such a lesson in surrender for me and taught my daughter independence and allowed her to find her voice, a difficult skill for us to teach her in current times. Growing up we learnt independence and responsibility by walking to the shops and doing shopping for my gran, but those were different times and these are new opportunities.
‘Beautiful trauma’ has been the theme this year, a new daughter for our family and 7 new angels in heaven watching over us. Companions in life and work are fewer, yet relationships richer. New people have stepped up – the ebb and flow of life. On the road in India - 6km barefoot on tar road - I realised the choice between fear and scarcity vs surrender and possibility and then the acceptance that all is good and taken care of. A silent celebration of gratitude, with not a blister insight.
Dewitt Jones, a photographer for the National Geographic truly “SeeS” this world. He has put on a lense of celebration. Celebrating what is right about the world, reframing each situation from a good frame to a great frame. I see the daily miracles and remind myself that it is a divine play and find beauty to carry on each day. Reframing each moment like that energises the next moment to find the next right situation.
For People Shop, the road was hard to travel and yet we found oasis - more than one. Our Coaching and Leadership Development practise saw true people transformation, we focused on business and indirectly improved family and home life! We publicly spoke to women to lead-in and rise mindfully. I realised at the Sapics student conference that the almost 200 graduates I worked with, may potentially be the Leaders and Managers who would guide my children within the workplace. What an opportunity and responsibility!
We continued to build high performing teams through our Recruitment and Advisory business in addition to securing several Executives in high impact roles within Supply Chain, Operation and Finance across the Mining and Pharma industries. An exciting development has been the innovative Leadership and Team Development work within the public sector. We are investing more resource and time into building our capacity in this area.
Sourcing and IBP have still taken centre stage within many of our clients across the various sectors, but the greatest increase has been the digital and eCommerce agenda. Letsema Consulting’s 2nd Annual Digital Procurement and Supply Chain Research has shown new technologies, particularly Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning, and Robotics Process Automation (RPA). These are clearly being investigated and / or implemented by leading companies in the procurement and supply chain space in SA. One of the key challenges hindering large-scale adoption of digital is the need to build and manage a competent workforce. Leading companies are successfully finding innovative ways to address this, despite the local skills shortage. Please follow this link to access your full survey report.
Let us celebrate what is right in our world. This year we became world Champions both Women and Men through our Netball and Rugby teams and behold the Universe through our Miss Universe - an advocate of Leadership and upliftment. The year was hard won, but it was Won. We survived and in places we thrived. Thank you for each flower, each kind word, understanding and support of my team and I this year. We are #Strongertogether and #heretostay - committed to the rising of Africa one Person, one Career, one business at a time.
They say Michelangelo saw an Angel in the stone and carved to set it free.
We would like to encourage you to join our movement to raise Africa. It is time to spread the wings of Africans. Be the change and show your support for the movement page on our website, www.peopleshop.co.za
With love, blessing and well wishes
