Question 1: Can you share your personal icons of empowered women and what sets them apart?

Elaine: In view of looking through thousands of females leaders who are empowered leaders as entrepreneurs, working professional and community leaders, there are the three common traits empowered women who have and which set them apart. And in fact these traits are not only for empowered women, but for both men and women who are inspired to live a life with purpose.

1) Self-Identity; they know who they are, they are not concerning too much about how people look at them or think about them, they are independent thinker, not shift right or left by other's opinion.

2) Purpose; they are driven by a mission, something is bigger than themselves that becomes the inner most inspiration when they are facing obstacles.

3) From success to significance; success is about ourselves, but significance is about others, empowered women are always keeping in mind how to bring other alongside to develop their potential and raise them higher.

Perspective set leaders different, for both empowered male and female leaders who are extremely optimistic and always see hope in every situation and see beauty in others.

Question 2: What is the role of social activists and how do they do it?

Elaine: There are key factors how social activist embrace in mind and how to do it:

1) First and foremost, it is the right understanding about women empowerment. Women empowerment is not about making women are stronger or better, or supersede men, it is not. Women empowerment is about inspiring each women to start with oneself to equip, to lead and to create the support community or system to uphold one another, and to achieve the balancing between men and men in the most productive and efficient in economic development, as well as harmony, peace, loving, mutual responsibility at home. Ultimately women empowerment can not be separated from men, has to include men and get the buy-in from the men in the process of movement.

2) Cultural understanding from each region and are able to relate the pain and challenges. Each challenge is uniquely and individually to that particular woman and in the cultural tradition, it is not one size fit all.

3) Role model, for women leaders who "made there", are able to bring other women alongside and provide opportunities to shine and grow, to create sisterhood supportive community and the safe environment to recognise and embrace the true self and the sense of belonging to pay forward and pay back.

Last but not least, through women empowerment, it is to transform the culture in family, at workplace and prosperity in society. We need everyone, every individual, both men and women.
