2022 Disney Expo: D23 Announcements & New Trailer Recaps

D23 Expo 2022 was held last weekend, and fans were treated to first looks, new footage, and so much more. Disney directors, crew, and cast members all came together to present the best in upcoming Disney film and television. And there was a ton of exciting stuff to showcase.

Below, catch up on the major D23 2022 announcements. Plus, watch all the exciting trailers released online after the event!

Star Wars

The Mandalorian Season 3

Star Wars™ fans, rejoice! The highly anticipated trailer for The Mandalorian™ season 3 is here. It shows Din Djarin™ and Grogu™ adventuring across the galaxy, pursued by new and old foes alike as Din attempts to reclaim his identity as a Mandalorian™. The Mandalorian season 3 will begin streaming on Disney+ in February 2023.

Tales of the Jedi

From the creative team behind The Clone Wars™ and The Bad Batch™ comes Tales of the Jedi™, an animated six-part anthology series. Shown in the first trailer are two major figures in Jedi™ history. Padawan Ahsoka Tano™ and her Master Anakin Skywalker™ are seen during her training, while we also witness Mace Windu™ and a young Qui-Gon Jinn’s™ experience during the fall of Count Dooku™. Tales of the Jedi will be released on Disney+ on October 26, 2022.

Andor

On September 21, Andor will premiere on Disney+. Ahead of the three-episode launch, Disney and Lucasfilm showed the final full-length trailer. Watch it above or on the official Star Wars YouTube channel.

Marvel

Werewolf By Night

Prepare for fright and delight … in Werewolf By Night! Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation short is giving classic cheesy horror vibes. In addition to Jack Russell and Elsa Bloodstone, the show will also have Man-Thing — so many spooky debuts! Experience the marvelous, Halloween-themed mayhem only on Disney+, streaming October 7, 2022.

Secret Invasion

Humanity is facing one of its greatest threats to date, and only Nick Fury stands in the way to stop it. Well, Nick and a highly trained team comprised of War Machine/James RhodesMaria Hill, and Talos. The latest MCU television series is half political thriller, half super hero show, and we’re here for all of it. Secret Invasion will start streaming in 2023.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur are leaping off the pages of Marvel comics and into this animated series! The show follows Lunella Lafayette, a brilliant thirteen year old who accidentally brings a dinosaur to modern day New York City. She and her large friend will embark on adventures and fight super-villain threats, all while managing family time and school. Check it out on Disney+ starting February 10, 2023.

Disney

The Little Mermaid

Journey under the sea with Ariel in The Little Mermaid! This live-action adaptation of an animated classic has the perfect dose of sparkles, princesses, and singing sea creatures. Watch the first trailer above or on the Walt Disney Studios YouTube channel, then see The Little Mermaid in theaters on May 26, 2023.

Disenchanted

Happily ever after comes at a price! After living in the real world for a long time, Giselle decides to make a few fantastical upgrades … but the changes might be too much for her to handle. Disenchanted, the sequel to the highly adored film Enchanted, begins streaming November 24, 2022, only on Disney+.

Hocus Pocus 2

Just in time for Spooky Season, Walt Disney Studios released the Hocus Pocus 2 teaser trailer! The Sanderson Sisters are back with style and sinister intentions, while young witches must learn how to control their newfound magic. Watch the Halloween film event on September 30, 2022.

National Treasure: Edge of History

Based on the wildly popular National Treasure franchise, National Treasure: Edge of History stars a young heroine on a quest to reclaim family secrets — and possibly heirlooms. Catch the two-episode premiere of this action-adventure series on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, only on Disney+.

The Santa Clauses

What happens when Santa Claus retires? The Santa Clauses television series — based on the original Santa Clause films — follows Scott Calvin once he decides to hand over the Kris Kringle title. Debuting November 16, the holiday story will show Scott as he struggles to find a worthy replacement to handle Christmas.

Strange World

This original Disney animated movie journeys deep into uncharted fantasy lands. It follows a family of explorers known as the Clades, who must reconcile their differences or risk the success of their latest mission. Strange World releases November 23, 2022.

Lucasfilm

Willow

Set many years after the original Willow movie, this epic fantasy series will reunite old friends to save royal descendants. There are quests, and magic, and even brownies! Catch the premiere on Disney+ with the whole family on November 30, 2022.
