2023 Deloitte Africa Report l We are committed to building a sustainable future for Africa
What an exciting time to be working in Africa. Admittedly, there are real challenges, but I believe there are equally incredible opportunities. I connected with almost 350 partners at our annual Deloitte Africa Leadership Summit last month and the energy and excitement for what lies ahead, for our firm and the continent, was palpable. Now, one month later, as we share our 2023 Deloitte Africa Report with the market, I am proud, grateful, and more confident than ever to see our firm go from strength to strength.
We launched this report to share a transparent, balanced, and holistic overview of our firm’s performance and celebrate some of our key milestones over the past year. It’s a demonstration of our commitment to being a purpose-led organisation, because to us success is about more than the bottom line. We are fortunate to be a trusted global professional services firm in Africa and we are determined to retain and uphold this trust. We believe that to justify our existence as a business, our work must serve the greater public interest and align with our Purpose – to make an impact that matters for our people, clients, society, and planet.
I’ll share a few highlights from the year but please read the report for the full picture.
We are seeing the benefits of our multidisciplinary model which leverages our unique combination of technical skills and deep industry insights, to create long-term value for our clients.
We are committed to delivering the best quality audits for our clients. Our ongoing investments in our audit quality journey are resulting in continuous improvements and encouraging outcomes from external regulator quality inspections. We are proud to have received 100% good or acceptable quality outcomes on the engagement files selected for review by the IRBA and no reportable findings on our systems of quality control/management inspection in 2022 and 2023. This is an important point of validation of the improvements in the audit quality standards achieved by our firm.
I’m incredibly proud that we now have 38% female partner representation in Africa – we are well on our way to achieving our goal of 40% by 2025. We were also able to celebrate an important step in our transformation journey in South Africa when on 1 June 2023 we achieved 51% Black representation.
Africa Talent reached an impressive milestone this year securing almost 100 talented, young professionals with various and often complex skills to support clients in Europe. In partnership with our colleagues in Netherlands, we are providing these professionals with an opportunity to remain in Africa while working with global clients and developing their skills.

We want to be a force for good, so we rallied our employees from across the continent to volunteer over 40 000 hours to make an impact across 100 NGO and partner-organisations, in just one day. Our first annual Africa Volunteer Day resulted in over 100 000 lives being impacted, and the start of long-lasting collaborations.
Reflecting on these and many other milestones gives me a great sense of purpose and momentum. We have a role to play towards Africa’s growth and prosperity and we take this very seriously.
We are part of Africa’s future and will be part of Africa’s solutions.
The 2023 Deloitte Africa Report now combines our transparency and impact reports and can be read here. I welcome your feedback on the report.
