2024 IAATI (UK) National Vehicle Crime Conference

The United Kingdom branch of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) is holding its 2024 National Vehicle Crime Conference on the 9th and 10th July at the Toyota Manufacturing UK Training Centre, Burnaston Hall, Derby, DE1 9TA.

IAATI UK has invited keynote addresses and presentations from Opal, the National Intelligence Unit for Serious and Organised Acquisitive Crime, from the office of the National Policing lead for vehicle crime, from the motor and insurance industries, from international associates tackling vehicle crime proactively, as well as from UK law enforcement.

IAATI is represented in 58 countries of the world and its 2,000 members are drawn from both the public and private sectors. They include police officers and many others working in law enforcement agencies, government officials, members of the insurance industry, and vehicle manufacturers. IAATI welcomes those who share a legitimate interest in auto theft investigation, prevention, and education.

IAATI UK is just part of this worldwide conduit of knowledge. It is a recognised support network of experienced practitioners dealing with various aspects of vehicle crime. With both vehicle and equipment (construction and agricultural) crime on the increase, it is imperative that those authorised to deal with it are afforded the opportunity to share knowledge, experience, and information on the new and evolving techniques used by criminals and how best to understand and counter them.

This two-day conference will deliver education on where to turn and who to contact with safety, mitigation of theft risk and vehicle examination in mind. Attendance is free of charge to members of IAATI UK (membership fee is still £50 – or £55 for new joiners – depending on member package chosen), or £125 for non-members. The conference will bring together Government, police, insurers, investigators, and vehicle security solution providers to the motor industry.

Training opportunities in vehicle crime investigation and identification methods covering all vehicle types have become popular. These will be discussed, and information on wheeled and track laying, powered and electric vehicles, and non-powered vehicles, such as caravans, will be included, if time allows.

It is IAATI UK’s intention to organise and host a number of one day events across the UK, bringing knowledge and understanding to those who legitimately require it and enabling IAATI UK members to find and attend a training seminar local to them.

Companies and individuals interested in attending, participating, displaying or speaking at this event can in the first instance contact Mike Briggs the IAATI UK President, via mike@vsst.co.uk. Whilst this event is open to IAATI members and invited guests only, non-members interested in attending are invited to submit an application for vetting. Please be aware that attendance will only be permitted for those that have applied in advance. No exceptions will be made. To attend, apply in the first instance to Mike Briggs, as above.
