2025 AI Trends

2025 AI Trends

As I gather with friends and family for the holidays, I keep hearing the same questions: What’s happening with AI? What should I know about AI? Should I start using AI?

The first thing we should understand is that the question is no longer whether we should use artificial intelligence but how to make the most of it. We’re in the middle of the AI revolution, one comparable to humanity’s adoption of electricity. AI is transforming every industry in unique ways, and it’s up to each of us to shape its impact on our businesses and lives.

Year 2025 is set to be an exciting one, driven by AI innovation! To quote Amazon 's Jeff Bezos: “There has never been a more extraordinary moment to be alive… we’re so lucky! Modern AI is a horizontal enabling layer: it can be used to improve everything, it will be everything. It’s like electricity. I guarantee you, there isn’t a single application you can think of that won’t be made better with AI.”

Here's my perspective on what to expect in 2025, viewed through the lens of my areas of expertise:

1. Generative AI Dominance: GenAI tools led the adoption of AI innovation throughout 2024, and this trend is set to continue in 2025. OpenAI 's ChatGPT , with its multiple version launches, was the star of the year, and we can anticipate the release of version o3 in 2025. Beyond the widely adopted text-to-text GenAI tools, text-to-image generation tools reached new levels of sophistication in 2024. Stability AI launched its enhanced Stable Diffusion 3.5, while DALL-E Open Ai 3 (accessible to paid subscribers via ChatGPT’s interface) saw significant improvements. I had the opportunity to experiment with text-to-video and image-to-video tools from both companies, and I’m confident we’ll witness remarkable advancements in 2025. I predict broader adoption of these multimodal tools among creators, driving innovation in the creative process, increasing efficiencies, lowering costs and enabling a higher level of human-machine collaboration.

2. AI in Programming: This year, I took on the challenge of learning Python, and I have to admit - ChatGPT is 10x faster and more effective than I am! I foresee software development becoming increasingly reliant on GenAI tools, with programmers shifting their focus to higher-value, more strategic tasks within the SW development process.

3. AI in Marketing and Advertising: In 2024, The Coca-Cola Company made history by launching the first advertising campaign with commercials created using GenAI tools. In 2025, we can expect wider adoption of GenAI tools across the advertising industry. This technology, combined with the human touch, will drive enhanced efficiency and deliver more impactful brand experiences. Additionally, we will see the development of more custom solutions tailored to address specific advertiser needs. These solutions will harness the power of machine learning applied to high-quality data (cleaned and optimized version of big datasets), enabling smart, personalized brand-to-individual targeting.

4. AI Training Monetization: Content aggregators are poised to lead successful negotiations on behalf of small and medium intellectual property (IP) owners, enabling them to monetize their content used for AI training - especially video content from Hollywood studios and broadcast networks. To date, the most successful licensing agreements have been secured for training large AI models, such as OpenAI’s partnerships with News Corp and Reddit, Inc. 2025 will likely see expanded opportunities for smaller IP holders to benefit from these monetization efforts.

5. AI in News: AI technology has been transforming local newsrooms, enhancing story writing, editing, production, visual storytelling and real-time translation. In 2025, we can expect the dynamic generation and delivery of personalized video content to become more widespread. Additionally, I anticipate broader adoption of robotics in breaking news coverage scenarios, ensuring the safety of news teams while robots capture live footage of hazardous situations.

6. Leadership & AI: In 2025, C-Suite leaders and boards must establish clear goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) to strategically outline what they aim to achieve through the adoption of AI technologies. These efforts will be critical in ensuring their companies remain competitive, relevant, and successful in an increasingly AI-driven landscape.

It’s time to rethink everything we thought we knew about how things were done in the past, and reimagine optimized possibilities for a bright future with AI innovation! Cheers to a great 2025! Happy New Year! #BetterAI for a #BetterWorld #EverydAI VxM AI

Although AI will afford for part of the workforce to focus on how to best leverage AI tools and more strategic tasks, I wonder about the mass of displaced workers in the times ahead. There will certainly be some level of role elimination. Perhaps some folks will be able to pivot to more "AI Proof" professions if they are among those negatively impacted by the AI revolution.
