21 Days to a Habit

The space between “Knowing and Doing” for all of us is like an abyss sometimes. We know we need to work out, eat right, drink more water and go to bed rather than watch the last show. Here is a list of the 21 easiest things to do to create long lasting wellness and build habits over 21 days…We have to build a bridge between knowing and doing. This probably happens on the 21 days to habit concept. What can we start doing, even if for only a few minutes every day that will turn into a new habit?

  1. More sleep, less digital
  2. Increase Water (the # of ounces needed is equal to your # of LBs…every day! Like we are fish!)
  3. Nutrition (No workout plan can overcome a bad diet, sadly)
  4. Meditation (even if for only two minutes...get a clip from YouTube to make it easy to start
  5. Qi Gong (for those who want to stretch and connect to their inner, ancient warrior self)
  6. Yoga and/or Deep Stretching
  7. Trying something brand new – very humbling
  8. Weights are critical as we age (doesn’t have to be super heavy weight!)
  9. Gratitude as a Primary Attitude
  10. Exercise – ie. Pickleball (fastest growing sport in America and can be played by anyone, any age)
  11. Travel and have a trip of some kind planned for every few months (even a weekend getaway)
  12. Staycation (Often hard for some people to do but if it is real, you really won’t do work)
  13. Organize something or clean something or conquer a big project
  14. Remember the Kaizen Way or the “2 Minute Rule” – The first step that is small leads to more
  15. Bear witness to your own and others experiences while fully present
  16. Demonstrate love in whatever form (Choose love before you feel it)
  17. Exercise of some kind (walking is the best for most as a baseline activity)
  18. Write or share your wisdom with someone in written form or volunteer
  19. Experience nature (then get some more)
  20. Feel Appreciation and Compassion
  21. Understand the difference between your “Physical” path and your personal “Spiritual” Journey

What would you add to the list?

Have a great day, make it a great day!
