Mental Health Awareness Week

It is mental health awareness week this week so make sure you take stock of where you are at!

Vulnerable Share!

I burnt out at the end of last year. It was horrific in so, so many ways. I didn't really fully understand the impact burning out would have on my mental health, my body and those around me. I did my very best to 'hide it', and despite it being quite obvious, I had received no support from my employer at the time. In fact, they did the opposite of piling on more pressure. I was bullied, lied too, broken and simply put didn't want to be here.

Lucky for me my darling wife saw right through me. She helped me make some big decisions and helped me to recover. I took 5 months off working and spent a month overseas and walked the Portueses Coastal Camino Trail with her. I reset who I was and what I wanted in life. I am still learning to put boundaries in place and am still not fully recovered yet - but life is so much better now than it has been.

So, if you are struggling - TALK to someone! If your work environment isn't supportive look elsewhere. Life is actually too short to suffer. Life is actually bloody awesome too!

Some tools and resources:

We made it! 13 days, almost 350kms with backpacks. Total BLISS.

Would your business survive if you 'popped your clogs?'

With so many businesses in New Zealand reliant on their owners or key staff the damage if an owner or key staff member 'popped their clogs' would be catastrophic!

So, what is Key Person Insurance?

Simply put a business puts some insurance in place on a Key Person so, should they pop their clogs, become majorly ill or not be able to work again, the business has some extra financial resources to see the business through this potentially crippling time.

When implemented correctly, Key Person Insurance can be a vital part of protecting the shareholders' investment, jobs and the future of the business itself.

If you are not sure that you have or if you need to investigate Key Person Insurance, e-mail me with a few details on yourself and your business and I can help connect you with the right adviser for you! phil.holland@vegalend.co.nz.

Don't wait until your clogs fall off!
