25 Years Celebrating Les Mills Legacy

25 Years Celebrating Les Mills Legacy

10 Rememberings from Les Mills Live in London, what a live highlight celebrating 25 years since we trained the first BODYPUMP teams in Europe.

Steve and I had a wonderful experience both at the Dutch MegaQ in May and also with the UK team in October in London at Excel.

1. The pride that comes over you when you see the lights, camera, and action.

I remember back to the very old days, filming in Studio One with McSweeney to no one at 11:00 PM after all the classes had finished with one camera, that we would relocate for the special shots. Ready Frankie? And now the production is like a Taylor Swift concert that you can't get a ticket for. Unbelievable.

2. Music is a religion.

If you've ever been on a presenting team or a filming or on a Les Mills initial training, that playlist is etched on your heart. And it will never be the same if you're ever driving down the freeway or on the dance floor at a wedding and your song comes on!

3. Being truly global, like over 100 countries global.

Hearing the programs being taught in many different languages and accents stronger than mine. Not global as in the American global, like the World Champs for baseball, which is actually the Nationals or we are going global, meaning we have two storefronts in Toronto and Vancouver.

4. Friendships that never fade.

Front row fanatics, presenting teams you've pranked all week long. Those 40 US trainers who skinny dipped in Opio, France. Buffalo Court Sessions - I know we don't do those anymore, but they were magnificent back in the day.

5. A program for everyone according to your phase and stage of life, and the perfect pick and mix menu for your full health and wellness.

No one does music and movement better. Sitting on 50 years of fine tuning in a country on the innovative edge of the world.

6. A little slice of kiwi.

In a world gone mad, it's nice to ground with a rack of lamb, a mouthful of Manuka honey, a Tim Tam and a Les Mills class. Nothing beats 186 Victoria Street, the birthplace of BODYPUMP.

7. The “Are we there yet? Never!” - gene.

Always leveling up - the programming, the coaching, the production, the athleticism, the global teams. This consistent and reassuring language of movement that meets you at every corner around the world, just like McDonald's, only healthier.

8. Passing the baton to the young ones coming through and seeing yourself in the unbridled enthusiasm of the next generation.

I got to meet one of my Doppelgangers,  Emily Wallis, a BODYATTACKer in London and got to re-live my past.

9. Hope, health and happiness, being spread around the world.

10. The love of the Program Directors.

The sheer amount of expertise and contribution from the global teams into the secret sauce that make up each program. The positive addiction that ensues when you find your brand.
