25th Annual DreamMile Atlanta - A massive success!

In a remarkable show of community support, the 25th annual DreamMile Vibha Atlanta charity run/walk event organized by Vibha saw resounding success, bringing together thousands of participants, volunteers, and sponsors to raise funds to improve the lives of underprivileged children in India and the United States.

This year's event, held on Sunday, Sep 17th, 2023, exceeded all expectations, with an impressive turnout and a record-breaking $610,000 raised for child development projects.

Intending to improve public education for 10 million underprivileged children in India and the United States within the next decade, the DreamMile Atlanta event has consistently worked toward making this dream a reality. This year's edition proved to be a significant milestone in achieving that goal.

The numbers from the event tell a story of determination, generosity, and community spirit:

The 25th DreamMile: This year's event celebrated its remarkable 25-year journey, highlighting its steadfast dedication to improving the lives of underprivileged children. Originating as a modest running event at Georgia Institute of Technology a quarter-century ago, thanks to the vision of doctoral student Sreekanth Pannala, Ph.D. , it has since evolved into a grand display of human creativity and a platform aimed at creating a more equitable world for every child, regardless of their origin or circumstances. The ultimate aspiration is to provide all children, regardless of their background or birth circumstances, with the opportunity to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.

50 Sponsors: The event garnered support from many sponsors, underscoring the robust endorsement from local businesses and organizations. Notably, Paramount Software Solutions, Inc also took the headline spot this year, a commitment they have upheld for several years. Several long-standing sponsors joined them, who have consistently stood by our side.

350 Volunteers: Over 350 dedicated volunteers selflessly contributed their time and effort to ensure the event's success, even in challenging weather conditions.

3,200 Participants: A diverse group of 3,200 participants, including runners, walkers, and attendees, supported the cause.

$610,000 and Counting: The most remarkable achievement of this year's DreamMile was the astounding sum of $610,000 raised (with more contributions still coming in). These funds will be directed toward child development projects in India and the United States, impacting the lives of approximately 30,000 underprivileged children.

The generosity extended even further, with approximately $60,000 earmarked for various childcare efforts locally in Atlanta, including Children's Healthcare of Atlanta , Inspiredu Atlanta , and @The International Community School (www.icsgeorgia.org). These contributions will make a tangible difference in the lives of needy children.

Additionally, the event received congratulatory notes from prominent figures, including Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia and U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, acknowledging the significant impact and dedication of the DreamMile event in the community in supporting underprivileged children. In a separate commendation, the Georgia House of Representatives adopted a House Resolution to applaud Vibha and DreamMile, presented by Georgia General Assembly House Of Representatives Dr. Michelle Au, State Representative Ruwa Romman, and State Senator Sheikh Rehman.

Forsyth County Sheriff Ron H. Freeman honored the event by presiding over the award ceremony and presenting the Vibha volunteer awards.

Despite heavy rain leading up to the event, the volunteers' commitment shone through, showcasing the true spirit of community and the unwavering determination to make the world a better place for those who need it the most.

The 25th DreamMile's remarkable success is a testament to the power of community, unity, and shared vision.

With every step taken, every dollar raised, and every heart touched, the DreamMile brings us closer to ensuring a brighter future for underprivileged children on two continents.
