❄️28 Days of Putting the WIN in Winter❄️- Day 23
At a retreat last month with my business coach, she posed the question to the group, “what if it was easy?”
For today’s Friday Reframe I’ll pose the same question to you: what if it was easy?
What if achieving the vision that you have for your life was easy?
Would you be ok with that? Or would it feel weird? Would it bring up feelings of confusion, unworthiness, or even guilt?
Do you feel like you have permission to experience ease? Or do you subconsciously believe that anything worth doing should be hard?
What if you’re actually the only one in the way of achieving the goals you wrote down on February 1st (or January 1st!)?
What if you’re making it harder than it has to be?
Listen, life is hard all on it’s own. Achieving goals is challenging even under the best of circumstances.
Challenges are not to be avoided - they induce growth and are part of the journey.
But if you’re making it harder than it has to be, it’s time to let that ish go.
Here are some ways to reframe your concept of hard by creating more ease in your life:
1 - Delegate more. Remember that list-making exercise from Day 16? How are you doing with delegating the tasks that you don’t personally need to be doing? You don’t need to do everything, girlfriend. You’ll do better work when you have help.
2 - Build more white space buffer into your calendar. If you’re overscheduled, and most high-performing women are - you are setting yourself up to fail. Creating more space in your calendar by only doing what is necessary to achieve your goals will help you experience a sense of calm, and help you to be more available for health-boosters like fun, hobbies, and a social life.
3 - Work with your energy levels, not against them. If you have your best energy first thing in the morning, then do your most important work at that time. If you feel your best mid-afternoon, then that’s the best time for you to focus. This applies to your week and your month as well. Choose the days of the week that you will do certain tasks to optimize your ease. And lastly, stop working against your menstrual cycle. Track how you feel during the month, and choose to do the month’s most important, high-cognitive-effort work during your highest-energy days. On the lower-energy days in your menstrual cycle, lean into rest and self-love.
4 - Make room for the Holy Spirit. The real root of over-scheduling and overachieving is a misguided belief that you are solely responsible for the outcome your efforts create. Ease is the result of trust.

With which of these four do you most resonate? What feelings come up for you when I ask you, “what if it was easy?”

My name is Laura McKenna & I’m a Health Detective.
At Strength & Shield Coaching, we’re on a mission to empower high-performing, purpose-driven, health-minded women who are burned out and tired all the time to transform exhaustion into energy so that you can stop missing your life and have the energy you need to do what is truly meaningful to you.
We do this with Health Detective work. We look for the real, underlying reasons why you’re burned out and tired all the time. We look for clues in your physiology, your psychology, and your environment. We run functional lab tests to investigate your hormones, immune, digestive, metabolic, and detoxification systems. We investigate the sources of burnout and exhaustion in your thoughts, mindset, decision-making, and environment.
If you’re tired all the time, there are reasons - and those reasons don’t include deficiencies in caffeine or medication.
Once we identify the who-done-it - the underlying reasons you’re exhausted and burned out - your Health Detective will develop for you a truly customized plan for restoring your energy and getting your life back.
You’ve got goals to crush, important missions to accomplish, and cherished people to love.
You need energy to do it.
If you’re tired all the time, let’s investigate why.
Let’s address the root causes.

2yLaura McKenna this was so good. Even though I said, "What if it were easy?" I'm still guilty of believing that it has to feel hard in order to be enjoyed. Recently I've noticed that I'm always charging for the next hill. I rarely look back to celebrate what has already been done. Sometimes, letting it be easy, means not being so hard on yourself. ;) Thank you for posting. I've loved this series!
