3 Keys to keep yourself motivated
I really wish if there would be a pill for motivation, then I would’ve it everyday. So that, I didn’t have to struggle to keep myself motivated and focus on what I’ve to do and achieve.
Motivation is short-term and goals and dreams are long-term. To connect the two, you need commitment. Commitment is the key to achieve goals. Commitment to bridge the gap between motivation and goals.
This isn’t a trick. Just a continuous effort and process.
The key to stay motivated, have a long-vision regardless of what you doing today and what you did yesterday.
1. Build connection between short and long-term goals.
Think about your short term goals and build a connection between short run-goals and long-term goal.
Like, writing on Quora is a short-term goal but writing a book or becoming a writer is a long-run goal. So, by writing on Quora, I’m practicing my writing skills and getting clarity in my thoughts.
But, at times, I lose the interest. In that period, I remind that if I’ve to be a writer, then I’ve to practice writing and for that I’ve to write answers on Quora. Created a connection between the two.
So, create a long-term goal, then have a small goal and inter-connect the two. Remember, to fill a bucket, every drop of water counts.
2. Create a plan to accomplish short-term and long-term goals.
When you’ve a thought and connection between the two, then create a plan to accomplish it. Because to achieve your vision, you need a strategic plan so that you stay on track.
- Write down your goals. Writing is effective. Because when you write, you read the words many times and in that process you engrave it in your brain memory. And, even if you forget, then by looking down to your written goals, you remind yourself that what you’ve to do.
- How to progress for your goals. When you wrote down you goals, then mention how’ll you make a progress to accomplish the goal. Think about this: to have a muscular body, when you hit gym, you’ve to follow a routine which state that what activity, when, what reps, and duration. Everything scheduled.
Similarly, you’ve to create a routine that how you’ll make progress.
3. Ask yourself, “WHY?”
Our brain is quite genius. It never does a single thing without a reason behind it. If you even going to washroom, then also your brain triggers off only when your body transmits the reason to go to washroom.
So, ask yourself why this goal or activity is important for you. Why you have to do? When you give reason to yourself, then your brain triggers off to do something regardless of motivation or no motivation.
By reasoning your actions, goals and thoughts you connect the short-term goals with your ultimate goal.
Stay committed to keep yourself motivated to achieve your goals.
