3 little things to start the year off..
You’re back at your desk. You’ve tided the pile of papers and checked LinkedIn several (hundred) times. Now what.
You know you want to have a great year but what does that mean and where do you even start?
The biggest thing that I hear and see from people is that they want more time so my first thing is to consider doing a time audit. This may take a bit of patience but it gives a true reflection of where your time is actually going.
Pick a random time such as 17 minutes past the hour.
Every hour at this time, (so 8.17am, 9.17am, 10.17am, etc) set an alarm during the day for a week and when the alarm goes off, write down what you’re doing.
You then start to get a picture of where your time actually is going. From that point forward you can then be more intentional.
Until you’re fully self aware of what you’re up against this year, including your own personal limitations, you can’t move forward so my next thing is to do a personal SWOT analysis.

Like a business one, you look at your personal strengths and weaknesses and also your opportunities and threats.
Knowing the negative as well as the positive allows you to do something about them.
Knowing your strengths and weaknesses also enables a certain amount of clarity. More on this next week…..
Once you’ve done this, why not set yourself a BHAG. Big hairy audacious goal. Playing small never did anyone any favours so what would you like to achieve this year if nothing were to stop you? Audacious is also one of my favourite words....
Would that be a promotion? The next stage in your business. Or just more joy in your everyday life.
Now you just need to focus on that one thing.
Would love to know what you're working on this year - please drop me a message so we can connect.
