Healthcare providers are leaning on technology to help elevate patient experiences. Here are the 3 trends shaping patient experiences in 2023.

  1. Shorter Wait times : While 40% of patients say they have experienced "longer than reasonable" wait times at hospitals, some systems are turning to technology for improvements by using automation tools to streamline workflows, conduct remote patient monitoring and more.
  2. Faster Discharge : Several hospitals in the U.S. have also begun to establish discharge lounges to give patients a separate space to relax during the discharge process, while allowing hospitals to turn beds around more quickly and improve wait times for other patients in need.
  3. Clearer Communication : Communication about medicine and responsiveness of hospital staff were the two of the five categories that saw the sharpest decline in patient experience ratings, according to recent data from The Leapfrog Group. But systems are inching toward progress in this area. Here’s how. AdventHealth is prioritizing hourly check-ins on patients to keep medications, condition and discharge information in the forefront.Taking patient preferences into account, recording them digitally and organizing tasks by priority per patient are also being prioritized across U.S. hospitals to bring unity to patient interactions.

The Era Of Personalized Precision of Health: Healthcare is undergoing a radical shift toward personalization, driven by innovative technologies. From smartwatches monitoring vital signs to genetic testing offering profound health insights, the future of healthcare is marked by tailored solutions that empower individuals.

Wearable Self Monitoring Devices: Philips ePatch, a compact waterproof patch, records heartbeats and patterns in various environments, even during activities like showering or dining. It stores medical-grade data for closer analysis by doctors, offering a comfortable and wearable solution for enhanced patient safety and control.

Alivecor is developing credit card-sized devices that can carry out high-quality ECG recordings while simply being held between fingertips. These devices are game-changing for healthcare systems, as they could free up routine appointments while giving people peace of mind that doctors can access their health data at any point necessary.

Personalized Cancer Treatments and Targeted Therapies: In oncology, personalized cancer treatments are reshaping how we combat the disease. Analyzing a patient's tumour genetic profile allows clinicians to tailor therapies to specific mutations, enhancing efficacy and minimizing side effects.

Technology is advancing ability of doctors to diagnose certain cancers through a blood test by isolating tumour DNA. This technology, being developed by companies such as Grail, enables earlier detection and, thus, earlier treatment of cancers.
