As the working week is almost over, lets round it off with a look at this week's headlines.
But before we do, let's check out the latest offering of Ecotextile Views
This week we spoke with Emmanuel Ladent 🌍 CEO - Carbios about the company's latest recycling technology.
Also, we spoke with Ambercycle co-founder Shay Sethi who explained what the company’s technology can do and how a partnership with a major industry player can change things – for the entire sector.
On Monday, we reported that the luxury fashion retailer Burberry had partnered with secondhand apparel marketplace Vestiaire Collective to launch a new global resale service.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol announced an increase of 25% in the total area of planted cotton acres enrolled for current crop year, compared to 2022.
On Tuesday, we revealed that a joint venture between recycling technology firm JEPLAN, INC. , clean fuel specialist Axens groupe and sustainable energy consultancy IFP Energies nouvelles had begun operations at its new polyester recycling plant in Japan.
And, biomaterials startup GoZen , which makes plastic-free, vegan alternative leather materials for the fashion and automotive industries, raised $3.3 million in a seed funding round.
On Wednesday, Swedish textile recycler Circulose , which last month axed its CEO amidst poor sales, revealed that it was only able to sell 11% of the prime quality Circulose pulp it produced in October.
And, textile recycling specialist SaXcell and viscose manufacturer Birla Cellulose signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at increasing the production of recycled, man-made cellulosic fibres.

On Thursday, the Better Cotton initiative launched its highly-awaited €25 million ($26.6m) physical traceability solution which will enable brands and retailers to track cotton’s journey through the supply chain.
And, US biotechnology company Evolved By Nature linked up with leather tanneries in Italy and Thailand to make its sustainable leather finishing solution available at scale.
So far today, Friday 3rd November, Taiwanese polyester giant Far Eastern Group invested US$5 million in US recycler Ambercycle as part of a strategic effort to help scale textile-to-textile regeneration in the apparel industry.
And, The Microfibre Consortium and textile testing equipment specialist James Heal unveiled a new test method that can be used to measure the amount of microfibres released from clothing using a simulated domestic laundering cycle.
