32: Theo's Friday Neurodiversity Roundup
Welcome to the latest edition of our popular neurodiversity newsletter! Today, we explore the topic of taking on Chat GPT, one of the most advanced language models based on the GPT-3.5 architecture. As the world becomes increasingly reliant on AI and automation, it's essential to understand the role that neurodiversity plays in shaping the future of technology.
We also examine the intersection of neurodiversity and the world of Private Equity and Venture Capital. While these industries may seem far removed from the world of neurodiversity, they have a crucial part to play in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and supporting founders to acquire more neurological diverse talent.
In addition, we share some valuable insights from attending a recent PE/VC event and explore 15 neurodiverse-friendly tech and social media tools that can help support neurodiverse individuals in the workplace.
Whether you're a business owner, a manager, or an individual seeking to improve your workplace experience, these tools can help you work more effectively and efficiently.
We hope that this newsletter provides you with valuable insights into the world of neurodiversity and the ways in which we can all work together to promote a more inclusive and diverse society.
Talent Acquisition for Private Equity and Venture Capitalist
Why is it important that today that I'm off to London to present on Neurodiversity at Work to Talent Acquisition leaders from the Private Equity and Venture Capitalist world run by Kandidate ?
Because a disproportionate amount of entrepreneurs and startup founders are ADHD, Dyslexic...
They are the founders and CEO's that are creating the future Unicorns of tomorrow.
And from the work we've done surveying those types of companies and working with them, we've found they also tend to hire more neurologically diverse talent.
Helping them consider hiring for #NeurodiversityByDesign rather than by accident is really important to me and in my view its the future of helping those who may have previously been marginalised at work, thrive at work.
Keep up the great work, Theo! I am a ND entrepreneur! Just finished reading Chapter 1 of Neurodiversity at Work.
I hope it went well Theo, admire everything you do in the ND space. Also what are the chances, the guy behind you has the same hat as you 🧢
Things I learned/interpreted from a PE/VC (Private Equity and Venture Capitalist) Talent event yesterday.
From Michael Hall at MossKind® organisational design could help unlock and retain key talent. and personally for me through a neurodiversity lens that can have a positive impact.
I call it #NeurodiversityBYDesign rather than by accident.
If you do it by accident you risk sh*t hitting the fan at some point. With effective organisational design and planning you can mitigate some of that risk.
How a company with no prior 'Talent' history on Linkedin can hit the top of the tree based on Linkedin's rankings.
Yakub Zolynski and Arrival focused on attracting key talent and building a culture deeply connected to the product/s they were building.
They proved that you're EVP can be so powerful, in some instances it almost takes care of itself, with little need to influence it.
But what happens when tough times come, how do you respond and what you do in these moment matter!
I thought I loved employer branding and EVP, built Keji Mustapha took that passion and enthusiasm to a whole other level. I feel she showed us not just the power of EB and EVP, but when you get the right people behind it, it's data driven and provides a platform for how life is, rather than for how you want it to be.
After covid we all have much better bullshit radar's so don't make the mistake of thinking a shiny office with shiny images are going to cut it!
So many more insights into the current PE/VC world, that I'll share over the coming weeks. Seems to be a fascinating moment in time where Talent, productivity and creativity, with a mix of Neurodiversity ;O) will win over printing MONEY!
Market share, is so yesterday, Market Value is where I think its at!
Thank you Alex van Klaveren and Kandidate for including me!
Such a great event Theo Smith and for the education on neurodiversity - sooo much food for thought! 🙌🏾🤓
Chat GPT making stuff up
After reading a recent article about Chat GPT making stuff up, I thought I'd put it to the test! How far would it go, would I be able to find a gap in its abilities?
Well I didn't have to go very far to find out!
What do you think about this? Please comment and share your thoughts.
I think AI has such a pivotal role to play in our future, but we are in a moment of risk and reliance on how the user interprets the data.
And what if Managers, HR, legal, compliance start to make decisions based on data from Chat GPT? What then?
Its purpose is to create a convincing response to a prompt, but it's not always an accurate response. ChatGPT 4.5 is more reliable but as you've said AI should never be relied upon without "common sense" or human insight as copilot.
People forget that Chat GPT's objective is not, and never has been, to be accurate - it's to be human-like. It will therefore prioritise what makes it seem human over what happens to be true. Actually, humans make stuff up exactly like it has done. "My mate Theo's an actor - actually he was on Eastenders once..." is exactly how a human might lie...
