#387: One simple step to create empowering financial beliefs

Well hello there! I hope you’re having a great week.

Last week, we talked about how your financial beliefs act like an invisible ceiling, which can hold you back no matter how hard you push forward. I promised this week I’d show you how to start breaking through that ceiling.

Creating truly empowering financial beliefs isn’t about snapping your fingers and suddenly thinking differently. It’s a process. A really powerful process of rewiring your brain.

It takes awareness, intention, and consistency. But it’s so incredibly worth it.

So let’s start small. Because small steps are where momentum begins.

It All Starts With Noticing

The biggest reason your financial beliefs hold you back is because they’re invisible. They’re running quietly in the background, dictating your decisions and actions without you even realising it.

Step 1: Spot one belief that’s keeping you stuck.

Just one.

Think about your financial story this year. Is there a thought you keep bumping into? Something that’s whispered in the back of your mind when you’ve tried to make a change?

Here are some examples to get you thinking:

  • “I’m not good with numbers.”
  • “I can’t charge more without losing clients.”
  • “I’ll never feel secure, no matter how much I earn.”
  • “Money is stressful, and I’d rather not deal with it.”
  • “If I invest in growth, I’ll lose control.”

If one of those hits a nerve, or it might be something else.  Pause for a moment.

That’s the belief - right there.

Step 2: Reframe It: Choose a better thought

Once you’ve spotted that belief, I want you to rewrite it. It doesn’t need to be grand or perfect. It just needs to be something you can believe, even if it’s only a little bit.

For example:

  • Limiting: “I’m not good with numbers.”
  • Empowering: “I can learn the financial basics I need to feel in control.”

  • Limiting: “I can’t charge more without losing clients.”
  • Empowering: “The right clients will value what I bring, even at a higher price.”

  • Limiting: “Money is stressful.”
  • Empowering: “I’m learning to feel calm and clear around money”

This isn’t about fake positivity or pretending everything’s perfect. It’s about choosing a better belief that helps you move forward, even just a step.

Step 3: Make It Stick

Just because you have a thought or belief, it doesn’t make it true. Most thoughts and beliefs are just stories, stories we can change.

So take that new belief and anchor it - this will start to rewire your brain to believe this new way of thinking is true.

Write it down somewhere you’ll see it; on a post it, in a notebook, or on your phone. Keep reminding yourself of it when you’re making decisions.

Small shifts build momentum, and momentum creates real change.

Why This Matters for 2025

Your financial beliefs dictate what you’ll allow yourself to achieve. They’re the ceiling to what’s possible.

Spotting just one limiting belief and rewriting it is how you start to raise that ceiling.

Imagine going into 2025 with a belief that actually serves you. A belief that makes you feel lighter, clearer, and more capable.

That’s how change begins.

Have a wonderful Christmas. Rest, recharge, and start dreaming about what’s possible with a new financial mindset!
