The 3Rs

The 3Rs

Many of you may remember from elementary school “The 3 Rs” – Reading, Writing, and 'Rithmatic. A few years after I started in business, our tag line was The 3 Rs” of Streeter Printing. They were: Reliable, Responsive, and Resourceful.

Now it’s time for another revision of “The 3 Rs” with regard to what matters these days . . .

REFERRALS, REVIEWS, REPUTATION. Referrals seem to still be the best avenue for getting new business. How great it is to get a referral from a friend or business associate. Someone you know and trust (and who knows and trusts your business)! Referrals are important to both parties – the person in need and the business being referred. And, In my opinion, it's an honor to be referred.

Then there are reviews. Years ago, the only available option for a business review was the Better Business Bureau and the rating they would give a company was based on customer complaints. Unfortunately, the Better Business Bureau charged companies to be a member. People still had access to information about companies, but the information was not as detailed as the online reviews of today. In today’s world, customer reviews are everything when making a decision to work with certain companies or people in the service industry. The public tells it like it is – the good, the bad, and the ugly, and with detailed specifics! It’s great that the public gets to weigh in, as opposed to the only voice out there being advertisers telling us how great their product or service is.

Reputation is so valuable – always has been! When a company operates with honesty and integrity, the word gets around. A good reputation is EARNED. A good reputation goes beyond customers and extends to vendors, employees, and even competitors. A good reputation cannot be bought  (unless maybe in politics!). So . . . even though referrals and reputations are “the old guys on the block” the addition of consumer reviews can be the turning point for a consumer to decide if they choose to work with your company or not.

According to PowerReviews, about 95% of customers read reviews before making a purchase. And 91% of customers from the ages of 18 to 34 trust online reviews just as much as personal recommendations according to BrightLocal.

So, there you have it – the power of the 3 Rs – and statistically proven! So if you're looking to improve your business, go with proven results and work on your 3Rs!

Sounds as if Streeter, who has been our printing partner for over 40 years and SUMAC Construction still use the 3 R principals. Sound advice!
