4 Distinctions That Will Change The Way You Create Success For Yourself.
You win by being resourceful, not resourced.
For the record, I am not smart. The standardized tests in high school? I scored average at best.
IQ? More of the same, average.
What I am is mother-loving resourceful, committed and willing to do the work.
And the way I invest in myself and my business is above-average.
Top 10% if I had to guess.
This is my secret.
Every time I think I’m “done” investing in my personal or professional development, the next opportunity pops up and I can’t not take advantage. Because I believe this is the process of unearthing and developing one’s IP, or Intellectual Property...Original Body Of Work...Thought-Leadership...whatever you want to call it.
I sure can’t get here if I’m not challenging myself, learning from the best and growing, daily.
This has put me in significant debt in the past. But I believe that the cost of loss profits without building the skill and having the support, is much higher.
For example:
If I want to learn how to create $20K months in my business, I’d better learn how to do it. And this kind of outcome, I imagine, will require an easy 5-figure investment, know what I’m saying? So the question actually becomes, can I afford NOT to learn how to earn $20K months? The answer is flat out NOPE.
Similarly, let’s say you teach people how to heal and save their marriage, whereas the opposite of this is divorce, destruction, potential devastation of the entire family. Quantified, this could amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Alternatively, $10K or $15K to work with you for 8-12 weeks and avoid the latter altogether. Which is more ideal?
As I was reflecting on this further, it dawned on me that I’ve gotten the most transformation out of 3 programs in particular and I wanted to peel back the curtain a bit as to what they are.
It always personally helps me to see/hear what others are doing and how they’ve invested / are investing in their growth.
High performers and achievers will resonate with this ;)
Here were the programs that I got the most out of, meaning, breakthroughs that shifted the way that I saw myself, my business, what was possible and also, refinement of a skill/capability that I was eager to develop in order to become the business owner I wanted to be: from marketing to client creation to sales.
One was a marketing beta program for $1,997 that included 12 weeks of support (it’s now double this, as it should be). The other was $11K (strategy + mindset) and $2,500 (sales and leadership influence), respectively, both offering 8 weeks of support.
Before these, I should mention, there were half a dozen, if not more, online programs on my ‘bookshelf’ ranging from $197 to $997 - yup, we did those too. Some of which were helpful, but not that memorable if I’m being honest.
It’s important to note here that, what works for me, might not work for you and vice versa - and you always have to follow what you’re being pulled towards-it’s there for a reason.
But as I was thinking back to these programs and experiences, I realized the following, which I can say with certainty, applies to most people, regardless of industry or niche:
1) You do not need to spend months upon months, years upon years, before you experience major transformation, an intended outcome or results. To be clear, I’m not suggesting that you can go from 0 to 6-figures in a month. Or 6-figures to seven in 6. I’m suggesting that some of the biggest transformations happen in smaller, more intensive and focused containers.
This is why I can spend 4 weeks with the right person and get them set up to hit consistent $10K/months within 3-6 months, if not sooner, depending on a few crucial pieces, and if they implement my process correctly.
Which brings me to the next thing…
2) Steer clear of the kitchen sink. If a program or coach looks like a kitchen sink, you’re going to get kitchen sink results. One of the first programs I created was an absolute kitchen sink. Here’s what I mean by this. It’s so common to see, inside one program, 20 different strategies or tactics for you to “try”, vs. a defined process for getting you exactly from point A to point Z. Not to say that you don’t sometimes need to build skill around a particular strategy, that could very well be the case, but often times, coaches are lacking a defined process for enrolling clients at the price they want to enroll them in. If that’s your core problem, you need a core 3 to 5-step process that solves this for you, not anything else, and you need it NOW.
3) Doing vs. Being. A lot of programs, people, things teach you how to do, not how to be. Doing a strategy is entirely different than being the strategy. Find someone who teaches you how to be, so you can be effective at what you do. This is key.
4) Having 1:1 access to someone who is at a higher level than you are (embodying, earning, impacting more), is invaluable. All of my biggest breakthroughs have come by being in the presence and energy of really clear, confident and capable teachers. Whether it was over a zoom group call or a one-on-one session...there is nothing more powerful than getting in the same ‘room’ with someone who can challenge you and help you see things differently. Do what it takes to do this and do it constantly.
Naturally, this might get you thinking about the next step for you.
If that’s the case, I recorded a quick training that might help with that.
In it, I explain why only 13% of coaches are making money in their business right now, and the 4 things you need to know, be and do...to be one of them.
If this sounds like something that would benefit you, comment or send me a PM and I’ll send you the link to watch - it’s an informal loom recording, 20-minutes long - no opt-in required, wanted to keep it easy peasy.
