4 Proven Strategies For Ripped Abs
In terms of the perfect physique, most people agree that a set of ripped six pack abs are the pinnacle of the perfect aesthetic physique. Building a ripped six pack however, is far easier said than done, and if you thought it was simply a case of doing countless stomach crunches every day, you are in for a very rude awakening indeed. Building a ripped six pack takes time, dedication, knowledge, and a great deal of patience. If you’ve got your sights set on the perfect body, here are four proven strategies to help you build a ripped six pack set of abs.
Don’t focus on crunches – When you think of abdominal-training exercises, one of the first examples to springs to mind, is almost certainly going to be the stomach crunch. Whilst crunches are indeed very beneficial exercises for training your core, there are still plenty of other abs exercises to choose from, which will target different parts of your abs. Just a few popular examples include: hanging leg raises, laying leg raises, mountain climbers, and knee raises.
Don’t train abs every day – If you believe what you read in Z-list celebrity gossip magazines, they’ll have you believe that the key to a six pack is to train your abs every day, and to perform something ridiculous, like 1000 crunches per day. This is nonsense as studies have found that ideally you don’t need to train abs any more than a maximum of three days per week to benefit. In terms of rep ranges, two or three exercises per workout, aiming for 3 sets of 20 – 30 reps or so per exercise, is more than sufficient.
Eat clean and healthily – It doesn’t matter how grueling your abs training routines are, if you are carrying too much body fat around your abdomen, your abdominal muscles will remain hidden from sight as they’ll be covered by a layer of fat. To reveal your abs, you need to get your body fat percentage down to around 12% or below, which means you must eat healthy foods that allow you to gradually lose body fat in a controlled manner. Get plenty of lean proteins, complex carbs, healthy fats, and nutrients from fresh fruits and veggies.
Perform plenty of cardio – If you’re not a fan of cardio then you’re in for some bad news as cardio is one of many key elements associated with revealing a set of ripped abdominal muscles. As mentioned, you need to burn fat in order to reveal your abs, and cardio is one of the most effective strategies for burning excess body fat. You don’t need to bust your butt on a treadmill if you don’t want, as you can go walking, cycling, swimming, walking the dog, or you can even play physically demanding games. As long as it gets your heart rate up and burns calories, it counts as cardio, and it will therefore be a welcome addition to your ab training regime.
